Hi Folks.
Here is a tune that was in works for last few weeks. Lyrics co-written with Ray (rayc). A gentleman from the forum (jptjptjpt) gave me an idea to record Nadya BGVs on her phone, not to overcomplicate her with DAW setup, and so that this could be finished sooner. Critical comments are always welcomed (exept for Nadya's vocals, since very little could be done with it). Thank you for listening.
Misha.

Your Desert

Lyrics:

Endless masks are falling
Like autumn leaves
Luster of a knife
In the hands of a widow
Finding nothing,
But petty, benevolent sins
Meticulous motion
Through stained glass windows.

Passing through the cities that men built.
Crossing oceans someone spilt
I am scavenger in your desert
I am a passenger of your disabled train.

Ooohh,
The fortress of unconsciousness
Mating dance of snakes of civilization
Sweet potion
Slow motion
Joyful prison
Poisonous devotion.

Endless lives retailing
So many lies
Rebuke your ego
For posing in a mirror
Watching nothing,
But pretty, malevolent sins
Insidious motion
sip through cracks in the windows.

Glancing at the pities that men plead.
Crossing oceans of her guilt
She's the scavenger in love's desert
She's the prisoner of this disabled brain

Ooohh,
The fortress of unconsciousness
Forging memories of civilization
Sweet potion
Slow motion
Joyful prison
Poisonous devotion.

Again you give me far too much credit.
This was already a thing, it had a musical presence, it had the Misha consciousness and it had that haunting melody AS WELL AS fantastic image flooded lyrics. I did enjoy, yet again, working within your orbit. THANKS.

Cheers

You consistently come up with interesting music.

This has got a slinky, dangerous vibe to it, which fits well with the poetic lyrics.

Really engaging to listen to! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Misha,

I really enjoyed your song - music and lyrics.

I thought it was really different (which is good) and very entertaining throughout.

Well done.

Best Regards

"This has got a slinky, dangerous vibe to it, which fits well with the poetic lyrics."

David nailed it ... so well stated.

It's an outstanding presentation of a "connect your own dots" lyric.

The haunting BGV's work really well. It is hard to imagine the project w/o them.

The bass made me immediately check to see what RT it was as it fits and sounds excellent.
As does the entire mix.

Your vocal processing is perfecto.

Nice work y'all!

Hi Misha, Ray and Nadya,

A fascinating song. But it still is your Eastern style!
Remarkable choice of instruments. Intriguing is the other word that comes to me.
Together with your dark voice it produces a wonderful song.

I just wish Nadya's bg voices sounded a little clearer, but that's a minor aspect in your very nice song!

Super groove, fantastic lyrics, great vocal, outstanding backing tracks and haunting vocals by Nadya. What's not to like in this one, i.e. everything is perfect.

Outstanding piece of music.

I listened yesterday but didn't have time to comment.

This is great, Misha! Your music is always such a treat to listen too.

Nadya sounds good, you should write a song for her to solo on sometime!

Good stuff, enjoyed!

Oh, yeah, I gotta start out by quoting Janice & Bud who are quoting David: "This has got a slinky, dangerous vibe to it, which fits well with the poetic lyrics." And that fretless bass --the whole band-- really adds a ton of danger to the slink. Oh, yeah, your lyrics are always top-notch. In fact, they seem to create their own notch above others. You vocals always draw me in, and Nadya on the phone is outstanding. I agree with Dave about her soloing sometime. Excellent song, Misha, and, RayC, you don't seem to realize how inspirational you are. hehe Great collab!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Misha,

...and the reluctant ray...and Nadya - who is, apparently, phoning it in... smile

Killer Music. Love it!

Excellent write. Your lyrics are creative, thought-provoking, vivid and cinematic.
The melody is as creative as the lyric.
Well sung. (Nadya's BGVs sound good!)

Exquisite production. And an incredibly good mix. A true listening experience. Some of the best stuff ever put up here.

Talent on display.

Always love your evocative lyrics.

Nadya's vocals are deluxe!

Only critique is to dial back the staccato guitars a bit.

A prison at the fortress of unconsciousness, very imaginative and mysterious lyrics. The instrumentation reflect nicely the mood. The intro is very intriguing, introducing the nice bass, it would have been nice to hear more that fatal electric guitar. Excellent moody vocals. A song that grows on every listen.

Misha/Ray,

This is wonderful! There's so much going on and it ALL sounds totally pro to me! I would not have ever guessed those vocal parts were recorded with a phone! I feel this is your best work to date that I've heard! Thanks, Torrey

What a phantasmic piece!

Lyrics are extraordinary. The first verse is masterfully crafted.

"Meticulous motion/Through stained glass windows" Wow!

The production is exceptional. You must spend a considerable amount of time selecting and editing the RTs.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
