HERE'S MY CUP

I've had the melody for this one on my mind for quite a while. I haven't had a lot of time to make music lately but decided to sit down today and get this done. I wrote most the lyrics today also. The chorus has that old familiar AM to D thing going on that we've heard in many songs. Hopefully I've been able to put a new twist on it! I only used RealDrums from BIAB on this and played everything else. Because of the heavily syncopated parts
throughout the tune, I had to do some major editing on the drums, especially in the chorus. Thanks for taking time to listen! I always appreciate it! T

HERE'S MY CUP
Words and music by
Torrey Bliss ©2021

Parched from this long journey
With a clouded mind and a weary soul
My sight is getting blurry
I'm longing for the place where the water's cold
I've come to You to renew my strength
Take me to the place where living waters flow
I've got to quench this thirst for You Lord
This empty vessel needs filled once more

Here's my cup please fill it again
Let it flow up over the brim
Fill the void that I have deep within
You have what I'm looking for

The tender new spring flower
Proves You'll give life once more
You've forgiven my transgressions
Yet here I am knocking on Your door
I've drifted far away from the course
Forgotten things that I should know
Your ways O Lord, renew them in me
Take me back where I need to be

Here's my cup please fill it again
Let it flow up over the brim
Fill the void I have deep within
Your Spirit's what I'm longing for

Here's my cup please fill it again
Let it flow up over the brim
Take me where I've never been
Please bow Your ear to hear my prayer

Hi Torrey,

Man, I have so much respect for you! I don't think I know anyone else that is so skilled on so many instruments.

Love the melody! And for someone who struggles with writing lyrics it blows me away that you wrote this in a day.

Everything sounds great, loved it!

Hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas and I'm looking forward to hearing what next year brings.

Hello Torrey
really good song
The intro is really exceptional
The vocals fit the song very well
I was actually going to write that you put together a great band in BiaB until I read that you play everything yourself except the drums. Unbelievable !!!
And your guitar solo is absolutely top notch.

I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year 2022.
And keep up the great song ideas

Many greetings
Andi ;-)

The verse is mellow, with an unexpected harder edge to the chorus.

Cool bridge!

Glad you could find one instrument to share with BiaB... although it's probably just a matter of time before you master the drums as well. wink

Lots of really neat things happening in this song! It's always great to hear one of your songs. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Torrey,
I'm glad you found the time to work on this.
Lovely melody & arrangement with cool changes.
The 1st four lines suggest you're not quite finished with this one...the same section in V2 is better realized.
Love your work...love your voice even more.

Cheers

Good offering. I like the melody. I don't know about the Am to D movement. I like it though. Wonderful electric guitar playing.

Nice job.

p.s. Thanks for the listen and comments on my song. I appreciate it.

Torrey...you continue to amaze...first things first the lyrics are prayerful but no-one has ever said prayer has to be sedate and dreary...I suspect the Lord appreciates that...the music and vocals are what we've come to expect from you...excellent...the syncopation is refreshing...maybe someday BiaB will get that down so the rest of us can do it but until then...keep bringing it brother...that was so good!

Great melody and vocal/instrumental performances.
A near one man show here! A One day write? Wow.

What stood out most for us was the excellent melody and overall arrangement.

Hello Torrey,

Of course a nice song, because it's made by Torrey Bliss!
Really liked how the choruses were sung, apart from all the other nice things.

Good one, Torrey!

Torrey,

Very nice song and it's very impressive.
It's great that the guitar traces the same melody as the vocals.
You are a very talented multi-instrumentalist and song writer.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.
