Six/all. well yesterday i really went at it trying to get those shads tones with my peavey vpyr amp plus jackson electric. playing along with the shads. it was a lot of work , but i finally got very close. the key i found is to back off the gtr volume a bit as well as the tone a tad and trying various pick up combos. i was really surprised by the vpyr amp which ive always liked for some things. cos it has various amp sims built in. anyhoo its close enough for me to play along with the old shads songs. ive also six been checking out the whole of range of joyo pedals that are very budget friendly ...on you tube. i like a lot of what i'm hearing.
more experimentation today...but i might take my wifev up her offer to buy me a couple of pedals for my birthday in a few months.
six your the master of that shads tone. huge kudos.
anyone know how can get the acdc tones ? or the fabulous lead guitar tones on 38 special hold on loosely. ?? ive got close on both but no cigar. another fav of mine is cheap trik live at budokan. saw them live couple of times...great live band.
best om

I've got one of these: ![](https://i.ibb.co/dcP3cM7/KORG.jpg) Great sounding unit but really noisy. I prefer the real thing: ![](https://i.ibb.co/KVBS3Tz/CLASSIC-30.jpg) You can not simulate tubes digitally. Regards, Bob

I've got one of these:
You can not simulate tubes digitally.
I used to think that also. I lugged 40-50lbs of tubes around for decades. Not anymore Fender Tonemaster amps ($1000). 22lbs Quilter Superblock ($275 + a speaker cab of your choice). 15-20lbs If you need a real tube amp sound with some reverb they are the cats meow. The tube breakup on them is sweet. Whats even better is you can dial it in at different output volume levels. You just cant do that with a Vibrolux (or a super or a Mark3, etc). There's a certain volume a tube amp sounds perfect. Lower or higher its not always there. It takes an airplane hangar to get there with a Twin Reverb. If one wants to add an array of pedals, one might not need a tube amp anyway. I never understood a "tube purist" with 15 pedal chain whining about the sound of the amplifier. Admittedly, we've waited 3+ decades for solid state guitar amplifiers to sound decent. The last 2-3 years have made a big difference. You may wish to check them out. No more lugging a 50lb Mark3 around for this boy. Anyway, thats my $.02

Guitar (Strat) - Alesis Q2 or Zoom2000 (for echo patches) - OCCASIONAL addition of Boss CS-3 for LIGHT compression/sustain - Joyo ACTone (Vox amp sim) and then straight to DAW,
The ACTone is REALLY, REALLY good: convincing, versatile and reliable too. The Behringer BDI21 is similarly excellent for bass. Both make the point that SANSAMP/TECH21 do fabulous work but charge WAY too much.

i used a zoom unit successfully for many years ( hopelessly out of date now) but depends just how much you need in the way of fx. like ian i realized i don't need that many and only used five or six patches when i was playing. even my basic zoom had several amp sims and cab options. the unit i always fancied but never bought is the behringer v-amp............. The V-Amp is pretty cool as are many things these days but a good cabinet I/R in the DAW makes a huge difference to and DI'd guitar. It's an improvement on the Behringer GDI21 I bought...their 1st rip off of the Sansamp - almost exactly the same - down to the noise issues - with Tweed, Mesa & Marshall represented quite well. A solid box and pretty reliable. I still use it when tracking with my Mel9 'Tron pedal...guitar -> compressor -> spring reverb pedal -> tweed clean with the highs n lows rolled off a tad then -> the box with some more reverb to soften it and an I/R of a Greenback edge miced with a decent condenser. It does that job better than a real amp.

Want to downsize? - Back in the day - when things were smaller, cheaper and worked on the KISS principle, this was my First combo for home playing - (forget my gigging days when AC30TB plus echo unit etc etc were the norm) ![](https://i.ibb.co/C0QbWgz/20220205-142336.jpg) ![](https://i.ibb.co/8r2yVk3/20220205-142310.jpg) The Ampworks ( An early Vox amp sim by Korg) sounded fine through a PA, post echo unit. Cost in 2004 - maybe £15 - 2o US Dollars The AC1 ( a miniature Vox, also by Korg) was 1 watt output (sounded louder) and coupled with the Ampworks was great for caravanning holidays. Still have them in original boxes. Smile and remember. Bests ian
