**BEFORE PLAYING THE SONG PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING.**
1. due to the variety of playback systems out there. watch your levels till comfortable with song...apologies if the listener hates the song . use earbuds if possible.
feel free to comment/critique whether the song flys or not.
although ive done many rockers in my life....this is a much softer slower mor song and was a lot of work fwiw....cos i went for very much a different "character vocal style" very different from crazy cockney and other rocker songs of mine. (a few rockers ive put on soundcloud)
2. i like to sing in and experiment with many different vocal styles. this is one of them.
fwiw ive sung in everything from opera through church/folk/ballads/blues/rock/hard rock/metal and goodness what else..lol. i just love doing vocals. its my "thing" as it were.
and i enjoy the vocal challenges that different music vocal styles present. unfortunately i'm loseing some of the upper vocal ranges i used to take for granted as i age....sigh.
3. Backstory.
(THIS SONG IS DEDICATED TO MY GRANPARENTS AND PARENTS WHO I MISS TERRIBLY.)
It was winter when i wrote this song which is a mixture of RT's and my own very small guitar touches.
Ive always had problems classifying what genre the song fits into frankly...any ideas ?
the song talks about leaving the cold and snow of winter behind . and the fact at that time i had too many songs to rearrange etc. ...and which i wanted to record.
finding the right RT's and makeing them fit the song was rather a lot of work/manipulation if i remember. i would be particularly interested in what the listener thinks of the "mean guitar" lead thast starts at 2m38secs.
4. like all my songs , i used the biab/rb/reaper combo to create this one.
(ive done about 90 original songs useing this combo over many years.)
i should say , as an aside , i spend huge numbers of hours trying to find the appropriate RT's , ...to use in original songs. as well going through the thousand and thousand of styles.
i'm always searching for what i term "golden nuggets" and "sound character/pictures " i can use in a song.
its the only way to do things imho...otherwise one might miss something that could really add to a song.
sometimes after going through 6 thousand plus styles and huge numbers of RT's if i just dont find what i'm looking for. then i shelve the song till i do. cos its just not in my budget to afford the big orchestral and other sample libraries and live session musicians that big studios can....thus i have to be inventive with what i have.
fwiw..."attend to the song details, hooks and picture" is how i was taught by some very nice audio engineers amongst other things...in big studios of yore. they were exceedingly nice to me, and i always take their advice to heart, even though i know i will never be able to achieve their caliber of audio engineering. one just does ones best, and try to have lots of fun in the process.
5.some pg users have asked me for more production details in past songs ive posted.
let me explain why i'm unable to do that, much as i like to share info.....
awhile back i had very serious surgery i wont bore people with, which i came through thankfully.
(but the docs are still monitoring me.)
as a result (due to this darn world covid situation) my doctors want to protect me /the surgery success and have me isolate wiith just my my wife. ...and limit any interraction with other people which might impact me. but all my darn song production details are backed up in other locations, which i cant get to right now.
i only have final song stereo mixes here. so please understand.
