I'm not really fond of jazz, but I had done this Rita Reys' cover with my own BIAB arrangement. I couldn't post it of course, because it's a cover. I wondered if I could do something like it myself. So I cut all the chords into individual pieces, threw them in a big bowl, shook it up and let the chords fall down on the table. Then I put one after the other, and fed them to BIAB. Well, BIAB turned it into a completely new song! When I heard it, the lyrics were just there, when I tried to sing a melody. It's about one of my frustrations, especially when I sing with Rob. You might even call it "an alto's lament" . But I didn't, I called it

If you're curious about the Rita Reys' cover: You can find it HERE As far as I know, this was her only Dutch song. In the end it says: "Dedicated to my mother who always dreamt of living on Scheveningen boulevard. The dream remained." My mother is in the video, which shows how the spa Scheveningen changed during the 20th century.

We are Rob Meulman and Anne-Marie Bovenkamp from The Netherlands.
Now I understand better why you complained about Rob all the time, when we were working on our song (comes in the forum around the half of April) ;-)
On YouTube I wrote "Mooi low is ook heel mooi" (Nice 'low' is very nice too) and that's a fact, while listening to your funny Rita Reys 'imitation'! In real it is no imitation, it's your own song. Conclusion: Very nice vocals, funny lyrics, good band.
I once saw Rita and her husband (Pim) perform in the Hague on the famous North sea Jazz festival. And Oscar Peterson too. So, a long time ago. Nice memory
Great video! Hey, Rob, I like it when the guy sings the high part, too. hehe This is such a fun song. Seems I've come to take your wonderful mastering for granted. I kept waiting for the high harmony and was not disappointed. Anne-Marie, your voice is perfect.
Definitely fun and funny. The BIAB band is perfect. The scat parts are cool and the doo doo to doing it is ace! The harmonized section was another treat.

The little animation below gives you a glimpse into what was happening inside my mind as I listened. Fred Astaire and partner were tapping and whirling around all over the place.
This song of yours is an amazing toe-tapper that fits perfectly into the Tin Pan Alley days of the 1930s. In fact, the first song that sprang to mind when your singing started was George Gershwin's and DuBose Heyward's "I've Got Plenty Of Nothin'".
As soon as your song stopped, I went to Youtube and found the below clip of Frank Sinatra singing the 1934 Gershwin/Heyward song. If you have a listen, you can easily hear just how very well you have captured the 1930s jazz feel.
Bravo!
What you have done is outstanding
All the best, Noel
P.S. I didn't watch your video on my first listen because I like to close my eyes and listen with 100% attention. I did go back and watch your video, though. Wow! This is brilliant, too. Your editing is perfect! You had me laughing out loud at those little penguins.
Hello Anne-Marie Cool really cool I like very very much Your singing is fantastic You can sing everything anyway ;-) The sound and the background are excellent Really good work Many greetings Andi ;-)

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
