Hi All,

Promise to get caught up on listening / commenting.

In the meantime, here's something short and grimey. This is called Dark City.

You’ve been running
I’ve been waiting
It’s been a lifetime
That it's been raining
I’m on the Northside
I’m running a ditty
Through my brain
Dark in the city

You’re a mama’s girl
I’m a papa’s boy
It’s a phone call child
For a little joy
I’m a south bound train
I’m getting gritty
On the tracks
Dark in the city

You’ve been thinking
I’ve been dreaming
It’s been a long night
To find some meaning
I’m lost in Chelsea
It’s such a pity
So many lights
Dark in the city

BIAB Tracks:
2524: Bass, Electric, FunkHalfNote
2525: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm, FunkWahWahChords
RealDrums: Soul70sEV16

As always - thanks for listening!

Bob

Bob,

I really liked this! The sparseness of the band really works, (I should try to embrace that a bit more myself as I tend to like to throw everything but the kitchen sink in... Although I have gotten better about that). crazy
I love the snare drum sound!

Well Done!

Greg

You had me at the title, but the song did not disappoint, copy Greg on the goodness of the sparseness. Some very nice tasteful wah-wah in there that just sounds great.

Your song has such a fun and upbeat sound to it, which I think is a nice contrast to some of the themes in the lyrics. It definitely has a bit of that classic funk sound to it that I rather enjoy. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Ember

Hey Bob you gotta a groove going with the intense bass and retro wahwah - edgy and gritty yeah. Got a young vibe to it.

Oh no, tell me you haven't put one of those giant bass speakers in your car trunk rattling people's houses when you drive by. LOL!
Just kidding.
Great job on the song!

Josie

The rattly drums sound cool here, and the wah guitars help keep the mood funky.

Short and moody!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Good to see you with a new one, Bob, you have been missed!

This is very different from anything I've ever heard you do before, very cool.

Great groove, and the band is perfect. Nicely done!

Wow. This gem cries out, "Bob is back!" And, man, what a gem you've created. Simple, sweet and satisfying. Great groove.

Bob,

First, great to see you back. Second, not surprising it’s with a killer tune. Love the funky aspect of this, which gives a bit of a spin on your unique sound. That wahwah guitar is pretty awesome in this tune—really makes it pop (the second song in a row I’ve listened to that featured it successfully). Outstanding stuff!

Hope all is well in your world,

Deej

Great use of those RealTracks.
I think the vocal would've sounded more intense with fewer effects.
Cool song.

Cheers

Wow very cool changeup Bob. So different from your acoustic songs. Loved this tune. Imagined Bruno Mars and his crew dancing to this. Well done..
