Hey guys...I wrote this when I was a young man...I initially recorded it when I was quite a bit older...now I've remastered it as veteran senior citizen...I still hold the sentiment of the song dear...I've mixed part of the original track (revamped on my Genos) and added the BiaB track...I hope I maintained it's original bounce...so...if you do...thanks so much for listening...love your thoughts and comments...Dan I Wanna Be Freehttps://soundclick.com/r/s8ma5o(Key Eb 140 BPM) BiaB components: EASE.STY Ease Fast Folk Pop 683 Bass 406 Acoustic Strumming Guitar Real drums=Mallets Folk I added: Vocals, Mandolin, muted acoustic, strings from my Yamaha Genos

Hi Dan Although I don't know the first recording, I already believe that you have managed very well to preserve the soul of the song. Sounds really excellent Very good work Dan Many greetings Andi ;-)

Very powerful. provenance preserved I'm sure. The song bounces along quite well with the modulation accents.
The lyrics and vocal performance were the stars on this one for me. Enjoyed my listen.

Cool mandolin, and a very uplifting song, Dan. As is your way, the vocals are impeccable. The key change was early, but very effective. Visually it's as if a whole group of others got to their feet because the were so oved by the sentiment. The second key change has them climbing a bit higher on the surrounding rocks. Excellent choices picking bandmates. Super song!!

Mac Davis, who I thought is/was a great writer, used to have a funny segment in his show where he gave a few examples of really bad songs he'd written. I'm beginning to think that you would never be able to pull that off in a show of your own. Have you EVER written a bad song? I love your music and your message, and the way you can consistently put them together is just incredible. I think you've got an anointing brother. I sure liked this one. If I had to provide an nit in this one, I thought that the backing track sounded a little hollow between the intro and when the bass comes in, but that's just me - and a very small nit at that. Thanks for posting it.

Dan,
This has that feel of one of the classic praise and worship songs that started being sung in churches back in the 80's and early 90's. And boy did you ever do a fine job on it! Everything sounds right in its place to me, and the vocals are what really make it happen! I enjoyed it! It's a great thing to see you keep churning out such high-quality songs!
Thanks, Torrey

It looks like composing such highly melodic songs comes very naturally to you. You sure managed to keep up a very high standard!
Excellent writing and great vocal (and backing vocal, I loved the highest range!).
Inventive modulations at 1:15 and once again at 2:24!
By all means, keep them songs coming :-).

Based on what I just heard, I'm not surprised the original song won an award. This version shines. I have always admired your gift as a lyricist and your vocal arrangements are outstanding. Like Babu, the first key change caught me by surprise and the song has a mystical way of drawing the listener onward and upward. Truly inspiring.
My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile

Thanks, Torrey I completely agree with Torrey. Every song that I have heard from should be on every gospel radio show as they are pro in every way and the message is loud and clear. Super vocal, lyrics, backing band, and mix. GOD blessed you with an abundance of talent and I am positive he loves what you are doing with it. Loved it
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I noticed this on your website:
..this is a re-master and re-title of the song "I Wanna Rise" which was an award winner in 14th Annual Billboard World Songwriting Contest
And... it sounds every bit the award winner.
As Charlie already said, bouncy pop with nice use of modulation.

Great production, loved the song. The key change was a slight jolt for me. But points for exploring new approaches. You've got a pleasant voice to listen to, and with all those harmonies, it was even better. Excellent work!

Hey guys...I am humbled by all of your kind, gracious and encouraging comments...I am a huge fan of many if not all you guys...I have learned so much by listening to your music and been inspired many times which has helped me immensely in my writing and production of the music I post...don't know about you but BiaB has opened a new world of arrangement and production ideas for me and listening to (far superior) writers and musicians has certainly sharpened my skills in music production and presentation...I am grateful...thanks again...my best regards to all...Dan

Somehow I missed this song...probably as a non Christian I normally don't feel comfortable judging Christian music.
Anyway, I listened to it and I'm impressed, you have a great and interesting voice and you write and sing killer harmonies.

Charlie I agree with everything Charlie said - he pretty much said most of what I was thinking. I simply wanted to add the key modulation is so sweet! I think key changes infuse a sense of freshness and new power into a song, in most cases. Really nice! Best to you ... Alan

This has such a joyous feel to it and that is a very good thing.
Excellent vocals, band and mix.
And thanks for the interesting backstory regarding the production changes as you aged.
Well done!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
