Hi Folks.
I try not to post very often, but this one was long due. A lyrical collaboration with Ray (rayc). Your critical comments, especially on the mix are appreciated & encouraged. Thank you for giving this time.
Misha.

Lyrics:

Hungry mind is searching for clues,
lucky cast of the dice
fighting sleep apnea
with fine whiskey and ice
stars are winking through the window
devil playing on his fiddle - midnight blues

Chorus:
What is going on inside of that computer on your shoulders?
Memories of love encrypted tightly in it's folders
Running malicious code
Time to unplug your cord.

Lazy minds seeking cheap excuses,
Broadcast into the night
fighting self awareness,
Hiding from plain sight
Stars implode on my TV screen
Like the blackhole within your mind
midnight blues.

Me & mine wearing bruises,
Morph into fight or flight
Tuning fork on my mind
Neither one has it right
New dawn clawing on the window
devil packed his bow and fiddle
morning blues

What is going on inside of these computers on our shoulders?
Memories of love shared oh so tightly in their folders
Running half written code
Time to reboot - reboot...

Great couplet! Lyrics were ace, the mix sounded perfect to me. Terrific job all the way around on this one.

Misha, Ray...

Killer lyric, boys. No surprise there.
And a cool melody.

I'm guessing there is a Kontakt percussion track? Never heard the CountryEven8 RD sound like that... whatever - it is a terrific sound, carrying it all...

Cool tracks start to finish.
Nice emotive vocal (could have some low-mids rolled off?)

A great listen. Excellent, thought-invoking Music.

TuneMonger,

FJ,
Thank you for giving this time and your kind words!
"Never heard the CountryEven8 RD sound like that" LOL. I should have been more clear. The loud drums are of Groove Agent, but they sounded a bit too electronic, so I blended them with CountryEven8 RD.

Misha and Ray ...

What a cool, powerful song! The bass line and drum track carry this one all the way. And, as always Misha, your lyric is superlative. you have some of the most thought-provoking lyrics on the forum.

And Ray is super cool to work with. Nice job, gentlemen ...

Thanks Folks,
I really enjoy working with Misha because things are loose and VERY creative until he starts to tie bows around things.
I get the super easy job: Misha sends me a rough of the backing, his melody & the lyrics he has thus far. I listen and react by typing as I listen & re-listen. I usually type heaps of gibberish and Misha curates/edits/sculpts with the parts that fit his mind, music & mouth.

Misha, cool mix but it does seem to have a lot going on in the top end...at 1st I thought is was my tinnitus but listening carefully I can hear a constant something. It may be nothing of something being accentuated by a limiter perhaps.

Regardless, THANK YOU for letting me join you in the sand pit & - EXCELLENT song sir, excellent.

Cheers

Brilliant! But, no surprise there smile

On first listen the mix sounded a bit muddy. That was solved by cranking the volume up second time around, this one needs to be loud and proud I think cool

Excellent song, very creative and very well done!

Funky Misha, another aspect of the creative mind on your shoulders wink Product of malicious code or not, this just makes me want to hear once more after each listen, maybe I need a reboot wink Inspirational lyrics. Super funky band with surprisingly few instruments smile The bass, the drums and the funky guitars are mixed into a cool groove. Nothing needs fixing, but I would love to hear an extended 7-minute dancefloor remix laugh

Funky and cool.

If I'm hearing the same thing as ray, it sounds like there's a ringing cymbal during the chorus.

The snare sounds nice and up front.

The mix is obviously bright, but that's not a bad thing.

Enjoyed this listen! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Misha, you are such a fun guy, man, and teamming up with Ray can only lead to more fun.. I love these lyrics, as I always do with your writing and Rays. I like the way you bring out imagery. For this one it is much like something the new AI imagers create with a simple line of code. My first time through was listening to all the amazing sounds you can put together with this software. An outstanding example. Second time through was to concentrate on the words, which I already read before pushing play. My only nit (and keep in mind that I'm having some ear issues lately) is that the vocal should be more up front. Cool song, guys.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Misha and Ray, you did a fantastic job on this one.

Great lyrics:
"What is going on inside of that computer on your shoulders?
Memories of love encrypted tightly in it's folders, Lazy minds seeking cheap excuses" are a couple of brilliant lines.

I liked that funky instrumentation and mix.

Super vocal also.

Excellent lyric!

This is just one set of lines that caught our attention:

“Lazy minds seeking cheap excuses,
Broadcast into the night
fighting self awareness,
Hiding from plain sight”

This is fun, dance music with a “deep thoughts” lyric that had both of us reading it over and over.

You’ve assembled a fine band and your vocals are great.

Great "nothing to add nothing to take away" mix that sets up an excellent soundstage on the monitors.

We also love the cover art.

Oh yeah!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
