Hello forum friends. Thanks so much for all the kind comments on my collab with David Snyder.......it was a great pleasure!! This song is kind of a retro (like all my songs) R&B thing. I got inspired by a BIAB band! As always, I would love to know what you think. Take care all. Greg

The band

Bass.....700
EP........2194
Organ.....2692
Ac. Gtr....3203
Drums.....Nashville Ev 16^2 sidestick hihat

Far Too Far

Girl there’s something about you
When your somewhere else
You still stay on my mind
And I’ve lived this long without you
But you’re that missing piece
I always hoped I would find
Now I’ve got my heart set on you
And I pray that I can make you my own
‘Cause it’s far too far to fall if I’m falling alone

I feel a bit of a tickle
When I see that smile
That I’ve come to adore
And you’re a little bit fickle
When you play that way
Makes me just want you more
But it’s time to get past this hide n seek
Cause you got me girl down to the bone
And it’s far too far to fall if I’m falling alone

I’m the guy
Used to fly
Solo, I didn’t need anyone
But when your next to me
I’m in sweet ecstasy
My world is spinning
Can’t believe what you’ve done

I’ll lay my cards on the table
Girl that’s all there is
Ain’t got no ace up my sleeve
I’m ready, willing and able
To bet it all on us
But girl you’ve got to believe
That I’ll stick with you through everything
This love’s a gift girl
It ain’t no loan
‘Cause it’s far too far to fall if I’m falling alone

Hi Greg,

This is another very good song from you.

I particularly liked the lyrics, chorus line and chord progression.

Also very good tuneful vocals.

Only one suggestion - the instrumental solo was down in energy, volume and quality compared to the vocals. Maybe there's a suitable soloist in BIAB 2023.

Keep up the great work.

Best Regards
Nigel

Man, you know how to sing a song!

Backing is simple, but works great. Mix is great. Vocals are stellar as always, and the the lyrics pull me into the story.

The solo is nice, but like Nigel says, a bit understated.

Love it. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Great storytelling, great arrangement and mix, and of course your vocals.
Really good.
My favorite part is the bridge(?) before the guitar solo, that's very very good.

Nicely done, Greg!

Great lyric, and of course, great vocal.

Personally, I have no problem with the solo, to me it fit the mood of the song which is what a good solo should do.

When it comes to your music, you know what I think, Greg. You are the master of subtle changes, always managing to add just the right chord to fit the melody and grab the listener. The quality and range of your voice is astounding. Love that "‘Cause it’s far too far to fall if I’m falling alone." Excellent song!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Greg...this is so mellow and enjoyable to listen to...your vocals are always the high-light of your recordings...this reminds me of some of the Eagles soft R&B songs...Timothy B. Schmit "esque"...love it! I'm a big fan of your music!

Not only do you have the best vocals, but they sit so well in the mix. If I set my vocals that loud, they would stick out like a sore thumb. But your vocals are perfect. As far as the solo, it starts off fine but then disappears halfway through. Ends nice, though. Good lyrics as always and a great listen overall!

Lovely,
The only nit would he the shot at the end of the intro...maybe a held over it or some delay?
Lovely.

Cheers

Greg,

What a great hook! (Something that many people don’t think about enough...)
As always it is a pure pleasure to listen to you sing a song
Nice harmonies, too
You seem to find hidden gyms in band in the box all the time
Excellent band. Well mixed.
Nice choice for a solo instrument.

One hit after another.

Another fine, fine vocal.

Excellent retro sound. Reminds me of something to slow dance to in high school.

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but you should check out Silvertwin. They have the sound that I think you would like.

Enjoyed the sweet romantic mood of the lyrics, really liked "Ain’t got no ace up my sleeve/I’m ready, willing and able/To bet it all on us" and "I feel a bit of a tickle...And you’re a little bit fickle", very nice rhyming. Sweet vocals and harmonies complete the mood. BIAB band works very well, couple of drum shots sound bit abrupt, but overall has very nice 70's feel (The Eagles etc.).

Haha - wonderful! A flirty/romantic song! It reminds me of "Too Much Heaven" by the Bee Gees - it's got that same vibe, that same spirit. And boy you nail this one. It's a joy to hear you sing, and, if I'm on here and see that you've posted a new song, I try to drop everything and come listen to it asap. And what a joy it is to listen - thanks so much for sharing!

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

I love this. Reminds me of a time when I used to play keyboard in a local band, and we had a Hammond M-3 organ with a leslie speaker that we carried all over Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Beautiful mellow song.

Hi Greg,

This is a very, very nice song!
It is understated and the singing is beautiful.
I really like the melody and the vocals.
And the same goes for the lyrics.

So I have no problems with the volume of the band and solo.
If they were louder they could spoil the intimacy of the vocals I think.

Merry Christmas to you,
Hans

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
