The dust my horse kicked up Has settled on the trail The only light is the fire from my camp The moons a quarter full And star all abound The only sound is crickets and the owls
And somewhere far away there sleeps a lady In a town she removed her fancy gown Takes off her lipstick and rouge cause tonight she sleeps alone This morning I left there to find my way back home
I let the fire burn all night To keep animals away And I think about the town I just left behind That city life is fine for some but not for me Fast living and fast woman is not my style
Somewhere far away there sleeps MY lady On a farm she removes her jeans and blouse Takes the ribbons that tie her hair lays them gently on the bed Tonight she got my message that Im on my way back home
Two years and three months its been Since I left my home And I wonder why I ever left at all But in my youth I was searching For the golden stars All I needed is waiting for me home Thought I'b be going home with my pockets filled with gold guess I'd be wronged again this old horse sure knows that I'm stubborn as a mule I learn the hard way every time.
Somewhere far away there sleeps my lady She dreams about a man alone on a trail As fire burns down low and the time she spent alone Theres a smile in her eyes cause at last Im coming home
Somewhere far away there sleeps my lady Just waiting to hold her man once again And I try to apologies and she just hush me up inside
Theres a smile in her eyes cause at last Im coming home 2x

Mr. Kayne, at your stage of apprenticeship you ought to have internalised some of the basic requirements: "With the posts, please provide: Link to the song (it is not hosted on our site, it is hosted on your site). TICK Title and background information about the song. Indicate which tracks were recorded by you, and which tracks were generated by Band-in-a-Box or RealBand. If Band-in-a-Box or RealBand have been used, please provide information as to which styles or RealTracks were used. (tip: In Band-in-a-Box, the Song Memo contains the names of the RealTracks used, and you can copy/paste from that.) List other programs used in the production (Sonar, Cubase etc.) Describe what effects were used in the production (reverb, auto-tune etc)..." etc.

Ditto to what rayc said. You've posted some great tracks here and gotten few responses. I'm sure you would get many good and helpful comments about your music if you would do what everyone else here does when they post a song. That includes commenting on the songs of others. Not being critical, I would just like to see some dialogue about your wonderful songs. Of course, if you haven't used BIAB on a song, it doesn't belong here.

What a great story - great lyrics
Your vocal fit very well with the backing tracks
Super mix also
I could be John Prine singing this
Seated at the restaurant, He "Darling can you say something that makes my heart beat faster"? She "Your wife just walked in"!
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

A song that proves that sometimes rhyming is overrated. ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) Nice arrangement and singing. Good write, too. I especially like the tempo/feel changes, and the pauses. Despite Rob says, there's no requirement that the songs actually use BiaB: The User Showcase is an area where users of PG Music products (e.g. Band-in-a-Box or RealBand) can post links to their original song compositions, for others to listen to.And you're obviously a BiaB user. Still, how will we know which great bits of your songs we can pilfer if you don't tell us about them? ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif)

This surprised me to read. I went back and read the rules and it seems unclear. Nonetheless, I'll go back and delete that line if the board will let me. * It wouldn't let me.

I went back and read the rules and it seems unclear. Perhaps this sentence will help clarify things: If Band-in-a-Box or RealBand have been used, please provide information as to which styles or RealTracks were used. The "if" allows that not all songs posted will necessarily have styles or RealTracks. That's my reading of it, anyway. IANAL, YMMV, et cetera.

Dave, prior to the line you quoted is this line:
Indicate which tracks were recorded by you, and which tracks were generated by Band-in-a-Box or RealBand
That's why I think it's unclear, especially when coupled with the line you quoted.

Hi Elliott,
Nice song and well sung.
Rhyming - David I must slightly disagree with you. The verses have no Rhyming and would definitely benefit IMHO from a Rhyming word at least at the end of the last two lines.
The Choruses have no Rhyming at all and are crying out for some repetition rhymes within the lines and rhyming words at the ends of the lines.
Again IMHO I think too many of the songs on this forum lack quality real (as opposed to false) Rhyming.
Best Regards Nigel

I purposely did not Rhyme in this song. I do enough Rhyming in many other songs, but for some reason it didn't feel right or needed for the tone, mood, and character I created for this tune. The syllables fit together for meter of the song

This is absolutely beautiful, excellent guitar playing. I loved my listen. Wow!!
Music is an expression that is a universal language, Never criticize anybody to harshly. They need time to grow but when they do, they do. Always be kind in what you say and do because the man upstairs is watching.

This song rolls along very smoothly. Uncomplicated melody matched to an interesting lyric. I liked the pause before the outro (nice touch).
My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile

Elliott,
This is a great sounding song with an excellent vocal performance and production! Don't know what the instrumentation used was but it all sounds really good! It's clean and crisp sounding! The song puts me in mind of the 70's/80's era group Toby Beau!
Thanks, TB
