Hi everyone,

I was away some time. It will happen again soon.
I won't go much into details but I need to undergo some surgery. Of course I don't like that and it is hunting my mind for some time.
It has something to do with my throat, so I hope I will still be able to sing after that.
Still I was busy making new songs or updating songs I made some years ago. But I didn't visit this forum. I'm really sorry for that. I hope I can catch up with the songs you all made. Don't be mad if that will take some time. I love your skills for making them. My wife said she was amazed how high your skills (and the quality of your songs) are. I can only agree.

That brings me to this song. It is a remix of my song in 2019, but I changed a lot and also the lyrics. So, in a way, it's a new song. It's also concerning the state of our earth and we, like some other songs I made recently.
The lyrics can be found on SoundCloud at this link: Change The Road, https://on.soundcloud.com/AUSCd

It was a real challenge to start with spoken words in English. All native speakers in that language will hear immediatly I'm not that native at all. But in the Netherlands they think i am, so that is nice.

Let me know if you like it or why not,
Enjoy,
Hans

Hans, I found nothing wrong with your English, especially that it is not your native language.

Great vocal, lyrics, and mix.

I liked this one a lot!

Hans, I hope all goes well with your surgery and that you maintain your voice.

I like this production: the instrumentation and the alternate spoken word and singing.

Words that need to be heeded but, unfortunately, will likely be ignored.

That lone bass line at about 3:53 with be power guitar sounds awesome.

Hello Hans ...

You're always missed when you aren't here. We're glad you're back, if just for a little while. We hope your surgery goes well and that you recover quickly and completely.

Not to worry - your English was fine! I had no trouble understanding you.

Excellent song with a terrific arrangement! I agree with your sentiments.

Take care ...

Alan

Oh, you already know I love this, Hans. I've already told you that you are much better with English than most folks I know who only speak the one language. I really really enjoy your talent for putting so many quality instruments in your songs and then mixing them in the perfect way. I imagine a live version and, man, that is a big stage. Interesting acoustic solo. No one adds dynamics as well as you. Love this!

Hey, keep me posted regarding your operation.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hans, glad to hear you're back! And with a very strong story about the sad reality we're living in touches me, "don't wait another day".
You are master of great arrangements and this is no exception. I love the calm verses and how they are still different from each other. And then the powerful and emotional chorus kicks in and on each repeat just grows stronger, in the end the heavy guitar really creeps on my spine. I wish that could have been a long heavy guitar solo to end.
Even short bass solo part, great!
Lovely chord progression also, so much sadness, I like how the acoustic solo guitar plays.
Great vocal, I hope you don't lose it, I wish you all the best for the surgery!

,

Thanks for your kind words. And yes I did a lot of practizing and rewriting words to let these spoken words sound natural and not like our prime minister speaks English, horrible.
I think I do better, but it is my wish to write these words down as Americans do. Maybe one day...

Hans

Hans,
I hope that medical thing goes smoothly.

Super tune! One of the most complex tunes I have heard by you. Very cool arrangement. Strong vocals & good lyrics. I like your transitions from spoken word to open singing. Mix is a bit on a high end, but doesn't bother me on this one. Really well done. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Hi Hans. I hope everything goes ok for you. Would be sad not to hear your vocals in the future. This was a very cool song. Loved the spoken word. Very dramatic and showcases the lyrics. Well done..

John, we mean Hans, we’ve missed you and what a strong lyric and performance you’ve brought with your return ! wink
We hope all goes well with your surgery and that you return better than ever quickly.

The dynamics in this are awesome and reflect the complacency surrounding the subject as well as the urgency for change.

The arrangement is very effective with the spoken word transitions to singing and solos. The piano was lovely.

That is a great mix! Perfect soundstage on the monitors. The drums pop!
Outstanding piano track.

Your English sounds just fine to us also as does the entire vocal track.

Powerful!

Thanks for these nice words! I also fear no one will listen to words like these. Or maybe just you and me.
But who cares as long as it is a nice song by itself?
The surgery will take place on coming thursday I heard. Heavy stuff...
But in case the recovery of my vocals take a long time, I made some songs in advance, even a Dutch one!
I let you know.

Those are very nice words; I'm always missed...
I just heard the surgery will take place next thursday. So very soon!
I hope all goes well.
I know my pronouncation in English is not too bad, but spoken words are fro another level, I think.
Still I had to do it, because it is a challenge. And I like facing them (sometimes)
I used ChatGtp for suggestions on spoken lyrics, but I wrote my own words after all.

Bye,
Hans

Hans...this is an excellent production in so many ways...it's message, the dynamics, the spoken and sung interchange, the vocals, instrumentation and arrangement are all very pro sounding and I really enjoyed each aspect of this fine piece of music! I wish you the best for your surgery...Dan

Well, this gives me faith about my English spoken words in a song. But even if it didn't, I still would have tried to make songs that are a challenge, on whatever ground.
I only need folks like you who speak so nicely about what I'm doing.

And I wrote to you the operation will happen on thursday. what nice reply you sent!

Hans, this is great from top to bottom. Nothing wrong with your English at all. Loved the acoustic guitar solo and the bass and e-guitar at the end.

I envisioned a massive outdoor eco-concert with thousands in the crowd and you at center stage.

Top shelf in every aspect.

PS> Everything will go well with your medical issue man. And then you'll be back writing great stuff again.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
