Celtic Kiss on Soundcloud Celtic Kiss on YouTube
A song about a guy from long ago who met a girl, lost the girl, and hopes to find her again. This song started with a bass riff I had for a funky jazz tune years ago, but ironically features the BiaB bass, and the riff is gone. Now it's slowed down to dirge speed with a haunting melody to match the old man's lament. I played the acoustic guitar with a heavy echo. Seems there's been a long-time debate over whether Celtic should be pronounced Seltic or Keltic. Knowing that it doesn't really matter, I use both, solving the problem with alliteration. Seltic song and Keltic kiss. Title: Celtic Kiss File:Celtic KissEXTRA.SGU Key=Dm , Tempo 72, Length (m:s)=2:53 Style is _POISED.STY (Poised Celtic Ballad) Style MIDI Instruments are : Clean Electric Guitar (28), RealTracks in style: ~2474:Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 3101:Piano, ElectricVintage, Rhythm AmericanaSlow16thsMike Ev16 060 RealTracks in style: 3545:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking CelticBalladSoft Ev 075 RealDrums in style:BodhranCelticSlowReelEv16-3-Rute [Multi] Celtic KissOnce I was a lonely orphan living on my own. Soon there came a fetching maiden to brighten up my home. She came and brought her presence. We sang our Celtic Song. She came, and just as quickly she's gone. I 'member once when she was sickly lying on our bed. She raised her head and then she kissed me. This is what she said: "All my life I waited for someone just like you. Our God will answer prayers. It's true." I still hear her singing praises to our God above. Somehow I still keep on breathing, living with her love. Now I'm sad and lonely. I taste her on my lips, And soon I will be with her for one more Celtic Kiss. Intro & Interludes-- (Dm7 Dm7b5 - Dm)2 V-- (Dm7 Dm7b5 – Dm)2 Cm7 Gm7 Cm7 A9

You are one talented guy Marty. This is haunting and sweet at the same time. And a great job on the acoustic too!
https://soundcloud.com/user-646279677BiaB 2024 Windows For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Very good Marty!
Boy meets girl.

Vocal is ace Marty...expressive and on point. The understated bass works a treat.. My 1st impression was that the "pad" sound was unnecessary BUT I've not heard it without it & I know you'd've made the right call.

Bob Thanks, Bob. It started with a weird bass riff that demanded a weird chord progression that insisted on a weird melody. The lamenting old man wanted to tell his story. You are one talented guy Marty. This is haunting and sweet at the same time. And a great job on the acoustic too! Thanks, Steve. Haunting and sweet --I like that. The Celtic crooner would've liked it too. Very good Marty!

HAHAHAHAHA Man, I gotta tell ya, David, I actually laughed out loud reading your comment. Love your mind, sir. So the ending... well, the boy lived a pious life, always doing the right thing, hoping to one day meet his love in Heaven. As it turned out, she ended up in hell for cheating on him.

Marty...well Mr. Versatility you produced another diverse and interesting tune...great production...this is not your normal fare but once again you've shown us how eclectic your mind is when it comes to writing and composition...great storytelling (though a little sad) but you warned us upfront...for my two-cents worth...I would love to hear some mandolins in the background of the solo guitar stuff or some cello to darken it even more...I'll throw those in when I cover this tune on my upcoming Celtic (Seltic/Keltic??) album...as usual I love the video!!

Love it. The guitar and your vocals give the song this haunting quality that I really like. Different from your "normal" stuff, but by no means less good. More of this please ![](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Hi Marty,
Man, you are as active as a bumble bee in this time of year! One song after another. And all are so nice with lyrics only you can write this way. A bit like a lovely fairytale.
I also had to laugh about the comment of David, but also your reply on it. Wonderful! In an instant you both shattered the entire image of the original song.
To me it is Seltic, but you uses both pronoucations in your song. You have to choose, man!
Have I said it was a lovely song and very well performed with that haunting, reverb-drenched guitar? You deserve that kiss...
Hans

Loved the song. Thanks, Mario. I'd love to hear how you would musically interpret this story. Ha ha ha! Perfect! Now THAT is a movie I would buy a ticket for!!! Sold. You know you get a free bridge in NYC with every purchase. Oh, man, Dan. That would be a dream come true to have you cover this. Ever since I started with BiaB 20 some years ago, I made these tracks in the hopes that I could actually hear a good singer sing them. I thought about you and strings when making this, but thought it would be too much. A sad cello would be perfect though.

First off, Janice said, “No, she didn’t cheat on him; they’re now together in heaven. This is too beautiful to have anything but a happy ending.“ ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) This is haunting and beautiful, Marty. Your guitar and the electric piano are magical together. Your warm and plaintive sound of the vocal sets the perfect mood. Janice also said that she loved the way you sang, “she’s gone” with such heartache. We noticed the two pronunciations of Celtic and were unaware that there were two. Enjoyed the song and the video! Sad and haunting - just like a Celtic song should be. ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif) So you had me Googling around as to why "Celtic" has two different pronunciations. Apparently the French in the 16th century derived it from the French word "Celte", which in turn came from the Latin "Celta". And being the 16th century and everyting, it was pronounced with an "s", because that was how they rolled back then. But in the early as the 18th century, language and history academics decided that the "c" needed to be pronounced like it was in ancient Greek and Classical Latin, because dead languages rule and you can't go making changes to languages all willy-nilly. So they changed to a "k" sound. All of which is to say that your song is historically accurate - starting by pronouncing it with an "s", and ending with a "k". ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif)

fj Thanks, Floyd! It was a rather easy mix cuz it was mostly all BiaB folks, but that dang haunting guitar was too loud, too soft, too out of time, redone once or twice, and still, if I went back into the project, I'd want to tweak it somehow. Really haunting like a run-on sentence with 7 commas. Love it. The guitar and your vocals give the song this haunting quality that I really like. Different from your "normal" stuff, but by no means less good. More of this please Thank, BD! When there are no rules, there is no normal. Maybe I should explore more of the weird bass riffs I used to practice. ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) Marty ...

Alan Thanks, Alan! All of our kids and I enjoy haunting movies, but Barb can't watch without a blanket to pull over her head. Hi Marty,

Hans Thanks, Hans. "...a lovely fairytale," I like that. Kinda what I had in mind. I'm more of a Keltic man myself. ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif) David Cuny (below) has the history right, and presents it with his wonderful wit.

Very cool and creative! Different than what I have used to hear from you, but glad to hear you are experiencing. I love the mysterious acoustic guitar melody and the chord progression creates a nice folk tale vibe supporting the sadness in the lyrics, sort of human vs. elven story. When I first heard this song, I wondered that seltic and keltic difference, but happy to see there is a clever explanation ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) The rest of the band is very pleasant to listen to. And the singing is very emotional, one of your best performances, now I wish there was a Marty voice bank available for Synthesizer V ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif) Janne

J&B I love Janice's faith in humankind. Yes, that is the alternate ending. Thing is their nearest neighbor was in the village 50 miles away. With a walk like that she'd be way too tired to cheat. Thanks, you two!! Sad and haunting - just like a Celtic song should be. ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif) So you had me Googling around as to why "Celtic" has two different pronunciations. Man, that's why I like following you around on here, David. Always enjoy your comments. When I wrote the song, the two pronunciations came to mind, and I wondered my way to Google too. No one could describe it as well as you do. The historical accuracy was intended actually, but I never thought anyone would notice. Here's one I didn't look up: Why does the Boston basketball team use the Seltic pronunciation? Very cool and creative! Different than what I have used to hear from you, but glad to hear you are experiencing. Love that "...human vs. elven story." Ha, if you ever want this Marty voice, just ask. I'd have a blast collabing with you, but your songs are better off without my vocal. ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif) My goal for the past 20 years with this program is to have someone else --someome good-- sing my songs. Hi Marty A really cool song Very mysterious melody sequences This is really well done especially the solo melody !!!! Great work Marty Many greetings Andi ;-) Thanks, Andi.
