WHAT ARE YOU DOING TONIGHT

https://www.reverbnation.com/kaynemusic/song/34043365-what-are-you-doing-tonight

I did the backing tracks in BIAB, then I sent to a Nashville Studio to add singers, and other instruments. I didn't like the female singer, so I replaced her part using Synth V Solaria. So this song is a Hybrid between AI, Digital, and Analog.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TONIGHT

What are you doing tonight? On a night like this
With the moon so bright it lights up the sky
Just like the 4th of July
What are you doing tonight? On a night like this
A hot summer night it feels so nice there is no end in sight

I can Go out with my boys cut up and make some noise
Shoot some pool at the bar over on route 3
We’ll tell some BS stories relive old past glories
A hot summer night I gonna reunite
That’s what I’m doing tonight

CHORUS

I can go out with my girls On a lady’s only night
A bottle of red and a bottle of white
Pretend we’re the bachelorettes Forget all Etiquettes
A hot summer night no need to be polite
that’s what I’m doing tonight

We can just stay at home (F) Disconnect the phone
Kick off our shoes and dance in the living room

Dine by candle light (F) lets have a pillow fight
Its alright YEA

That’s what we’re doing tonight
Do you feel like dancing
With the moon so bright it lights up the sky Just like the 4th of July
That’s what we’re doing tonight (F) Ya I feel like dancing
A hot summer night, its like paradise, to be loving life, Its so nice,
the time is right …
That’s what we’re doing tonight
What are you doing tonight?

Hi Elliot ...

A really good song that bridges the 90s country sound with more contemporary country music. Nice backing tracks with a solid sound. As always, your vocal sounds great.
The AI female singer sounds good - except she's just a slight bit out of synch with your voice ... very slightly behind your vocal -just a very small amount). After the first verse, she's in perfect synch with you. At least that's how it sounds to me. Could be these almost 77b year-old ears, though!

It's a good song that's very enjoyable to listen to. I like it a lot.

Good luck with future projects using AI voices. Your skills are already terrific!

Best to you ...

Alan

Cool song but the fem vocal, while sounding fine, doesn't quite fit.
Sounds like you need to render it as digital audio and do some slipping & sliding to get the timing 100%.
Though it's probably the harder edges to the sounds...the lack of sustain etc. that make the difference.
When it's just the male voice all is fine. When just the female it sounds a little unnatural.
I can appreciate the effort & expense gone to but, honestly, I's rather have heard your voice.

Hi Elliott ...

I always hope my comments are helpful and/or worth consideration.

The remix sounds a lot better. I can only imagine the work involved with "fine-tuning" an AI voice. Nice work!

Man, this is so good. Always enjoy your lyrics and the way you build a song, Elliott. Cool melody and great duet. You are quite amazing with those vocal folks. I'm hearing it after the remix, and it sounds perfect. I'm with Ray liking your voice in there, but you shine with these synths too.

Enjoy whatever happens!

"What am I doing tonight"? Enjoying the heck out of this song!

Loved the vocal, the synth voice (I wouldn't have known it was a synth if you hadn't told me - outstanding job!) and the mix.

Everything is spot on.

Loved it.

This is an enjoyable country duet with the “country” guy and the “city” girl vocals. The Nashville singer sounds good and Solaria sounds more and more REAL.

The BiaB band and the Nashville pickers blend seamlessly.

Cool!

PS It is loud!! But we got the monitors back on the shelf smile smile

I think it's a great song and has a great drive, I like that.
And your vocals are great.

Just an observation: your singer sounds best along with YOUR voice when she a) sings in the lower registers and b) when she sings harmonies rather than just doubling your part.

The vocals sit better together...nicely done.
Listening closer to the backing the kick sounds awful when not masked by the bass...it happens once every few bars and the clickiness really stick out.
To hear an example go to 2.02.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Elliott,

It's refreshing to see a writer take their stuff seriously enough to take the steps to produce their material as you have here! I would assume it was frustrating to have to replace that lead singer!

Man You produced a slick sounding killer track here! It's a great song! I must admit though that I feel your singing is great enough to carry any tune including this one!

Thanks, TB

Hi Elliott.
I listened to the latest mix and it sounded great.
I couldn't tell it was a synth vocal. You carved it out and shaped it nicely.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
