LIVING IN THE MOMENT

My writing partner Ron Helm and I have taken a short break, so in the meantime I decided to go back and re-do one from a few years ago I co-wrote with my daughter. I originally stated in this post that the bass RealTrack I was using was not satisfactory for this song because it was playing notes that didn't fit. I have now replaced that RealTrack with my own playing for better or worse but at least the bass seems to fit the song a little better. I hope somebody enjoys the tune! TB

Living In The Moment
Words and music by
Torrey Bliss and Courtney Williams
©2021

The past is done I know that I can't change it
But you'll never let it knock me down
The future's waiting for me I can't shake it
Still you'll be here when it comes around

Oh I'm living in the moment with You

You told me that I must believe in something
You'll never let my heart come all unwound
Without you I know that I'm left with nothing
What you've given me is so profound

Oh I'm living in the moment with You
Oh it's all I really ever want to do
Oh I'm living in the moment with You
Oh You're the One who's shown me the truth

You told me
Close that door behind you
Let tomorrow worry for itself

Once upon a time no one could change me
I tried to fight these giants all alone
Your love's the only thing that truly saved me
And gave me hope that I could overcome

Oh I'm living in the moment with You
Oh it's all I really ever want to do
Oh You're the One who's shown me the truth
Oh living in the moment with You

Torrey,

This is an absolutely awesome rock song. I’ve listened to it three times.

Amazing vocal, tracks selection and lead guitar. It sounds pro all the way.

Loved all of it!

Yeah! Sounds great, Torrey.

Love the sound you get from your tele, what are you playing it through if you don't mind my asking? Great playing too of course wink

Good song, very much enjoyed.

Extraordinary harmony! Excellent write. I love the way you break it up with that guitar riff, then bring in your solo magic. Man, you know I'm a big fan of your writing and singing. And there is always such polish in the mix. I read that Bob listened three times. I'm on my second (so far). Another cool thing about your songs is they always sound as good on the hundredth time as they do on the first --usually even better with each spin. Wow, that solo really grabs the listener.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Nice rocker. I like the mix. This has the kind of rock groove that I like.

Hi Torrey.
I love the mix, oohs and aahs and the transition to the bridge.
You're right about the bass line. It seems out of sync in places.

Thanks Dave! On this one I'm running the Tele through a Headrush Gigboard straight to the interface. I'm using a couple of preset patches created by Doc McFarland with a few minor tweaks I made to distortion and reverb levels.

I enjoyed this.

I love that 70s/80s power pop sound. This could have been a hit back in the day.

You've sung this very well. Nice solo!

Your productions are always so masterful.

Hi Torrey ...

Power-Pop lives on! You have talent oozing from every pore (hmmm ... that wasn't a pretty visual. But you get the idea!).

Great sounds and a great listen! Loved it! Take care.

Thanks Marty! The fact that you listened more than once humbles me! I knew that one needed a good short solo, and I gave it a good shot but still hear a couple of little subtle nuances I would like to apply! TB

Torrey...every time I here your songs I think well this is the best one...there are songs that you listen to a few times and you start to like them but with "Living in the Moment" it was love at first sight (technically, love at first listen)...beyond this point, I don't know what to say...except to say I love everything about this song...the track is exceptional...the vocals are killer...your ear for harmonies amazes me (only someone with an incredible ear can sing harmonies like that)...each nuance of your musicianship slays me...and you wrote it with your daughter! (isn't it incredible and so much fun to make music with your kids!!)...Like Mario said, "Loved it"

Powerful in every way!

Ace vocals, BiaB and your instrumental performances and the emotive lyric are strong.
Your guitar, as always, sounds great and those drums have a nice pop.

And a stadium filling anthemic production!

We enjoyed the remake!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
