About 6 months ago I posted here about a song I wrote that used a BIAB backing track with vocals from a Nashville studio singer. It came out so good, I decided to do another one. I used another song I wrote and recorded, called All Around Texas, with an excellent BIAB backing track. You can listen to the Nashville singer version HERE: You can download the song by clicking on “More” below the waveform window. Any comments, pro and con, are welcome. The song uses the following style and an additional real track: TEXSWGP.STY (Country Swing w/ Pedal Steel 1) 412:Guitar, Electric, Soloist Cowboy Ev 165 (for the VERY hot solo in the middle) I transferred all the BIAB track audio to my 16 track workstation and edited and mixed it there. BTW, I wasn't raised in Texas, but was close to it in Arkansas. However, I did have to look at a list of Texas towns to finish the song, Thanks for listening. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

That's some nice work. That Nashville hired hand is a good singer.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Nice write and production! The vocals and BGVs are off the charts. Very polished sounding all the way around. Nicely done!
The difference between Texas and Arkansas is not so much, especially in, say, Texarkana. That place is a hoot!

That's pretty cool song, especially the vocals are REALLY good. The production is good as well, although I would make the solo guitar a bit louder, probably almost as loud as the vocals, because it takes the lead there.

Hi Ralph,
I don't know much about country music (except Western Swing) but this all sound mighty professional to me.
Excellent vocals and harmonies and good backing too.
My only suggestion is the instrumental break which IMHO needs to be much louder to match the vocalist and secondly needs a bit of editing with a few of the notes. The good news - this is easy and quick to fix in your DAW.
Good work.
Merry Christmas Nigel

Many thanks for the thumbs up folks! Makes this old geezer feel mighty good. Since there were two votes about making the solo louder, I’ll have to remember that on my next song. This one is already done.

Hi Ralph,
I lived in San Antonio for 7 seven years and have played in most of those southern Texas towns you named - been to most of the others. We played what was, at the time, contemporary country and lots of Bob Wills & Asleep At The Wheel songs. I'm a lead guitarist.
Your Nashville guy did you good! His lead vocals and the bgvs were excellent - very Nashville pro-sounding. And the lyric is very well written. Nice choice of backing tracks. It was an ace listen!
Take care,
Alan

Nicely done, Hog Time. Good vocal tone. It could be nice if you tried a stop/shot or two here and there for variation.

Many thanks for the additional thumbs up folks! It's amazing what a pro voice does for a song. Didn't use shots/ holds in this song, but used them quite a bit in my previous “pro singer” song. Search my user name HogTime and the song Man I'm Gonna Miss Montana for the post. For some reason I couldn't link to it. Probably a "brain fade" problem on my end.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
