Hello everyone. Thanks to BIAB I've been performing in restaurants, bars, and private parties for over 20 years. I just wrote a short "How To" book for getting gigs. Since I'm a sax player it's from a horn player's perspective but most of the tactics apply to a vocalist or any other soloist.

Military musician for 20 years playing sax, oboe, and clarinet. Used to gig 6 nights a week traded that in for a day job and gigging on the weekend. I like composing WWQ music. My equipment: i7 16gb laptop. I use BIAB, Reaper, Pro Tools, and Sibelius.

I wouldn't call it SPAM. Posted in the wrong forum section is a possibility. I believe the +++ Recording, Mixing, Performance +++ forum section is more appropriate. The original poster's posting history supports the idea that he is a gigging musician.

What is the difference than Bob Norton linking to his website or Joanne Cooper linking to her products? The poster has not flooded the forum with posts.

There are numerous forum users that either gig on the side or gig for a living that maybe interested in investigating the product. Without this thread they likely would not know about it.

When I mentioned my CD here, I first got permission from Peter Gannon. He gave it because all the songs were composed in BIAB.

I did that because of Forum Rule #7, reproduced here:

Perhaps or perhaps not redShed got permission from PG Music to post a thread about his book. We don't know. What we do know is he has been a forum member since October of 2019 and in that time this is the 15 post he has contributed. I just don't get the feeling his post is SPAM.

Well probably doesn't matter now anyway, as his link doesn't work here.

Joined 2019 and since had 15 posts. Not very active. Probably not blatant spam, but self-promotion. At least music related, but the link didn't work for me either.

It's OK, I already know how to get gigs, we have 20 of them this month.

If you want advice, and you are a member of this group, I'll gladly share info with you.

By the way, Notes is another who explicitly got permission from Peter Gannon to mention his BIAB add-on products.

I owe a lot to Peter Gannon.

When I started writing aftermarket styles for BiaB, it was on the Atari computer. I took a classified ad in either Keyboard or Electronic Musician magazine offering the disk for sale. Peter Gannon called, and offered to convert it to the IBM format (Windows) so I could sell to the biggest BiaB audience.

This act of kindness set me on the track for my part-time business (my main source of income is from gigging). Since then, I have continued to support BiaB with my software and word of mouth, encouraging other musicians on other forums to give BiaB a try.

When writing aftermarket products for BiaB, I do my best not to compete with PG Music, but to enhance and support BiaB.

Me too! I always advertise that I am a Band-in-a box enthusiast and reseller and have probably been personally. responsible for turning hundreds of people on to Band-in-box, in one way and another, over the years.

I guess we are two of a kind. If you ever get to Florida USA, let me know, I'd love to meet you in person.

I used to sell BiaB when they were on floppy discs. Once it became possible for the customers to download it, I quit selling. But I certainly haven't ceased to promote it.

I turn other people on to BiaB because I really believe in it. I think it is a very important app for every computer musician. Anyone can use it to practice with their personal backup band, or write songs, or just have fun.
