I listened to this band quite a bit back in the 80's and imho Annie Haslam had one of the greatest voices in music . . . ever. Apparently and sadly, things have not changed much in Russia since the days of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Mother Russia Pays the price, works the seasons through

Went to high school in rural Georgia (USA) in the 70's. Not the most progressive part of our country, though it has its charms. Remarkably, our required reading included both Gulag Archipelago and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. I still stir a bowl of soup and look for the fish eyes. (Haven't found any...yet) Those stories seemed surreal then, but all too real today.

I'm not a Russian literary expert by any means but in our high school we read parts of War and Peace by Tolstoy and 1 or 2 other classic Russian works. There is much to admire in what they have contributed to global knowledge, it's just their form of government I can't agree with.
