Here's one reason that I dislike Windows. My notepad PC is dual boot as occasionally I want to run Windows on it. I just did to test something (which didn't work), Windows(8.1) did an update. Now it always reboots to Windows ... it's somehow even bypassing the bios, so even resetting to Linux as the first boot, the PC boots into f***ing Windows! I need my Linux on this PC, no ifs, no buts! I need it urgently!
There are times like this when I could actively get to hate Microsoft and Windows. I've now tried every fix and repair I can access, with no success. Final option ... reformat the drive and get rid of Windows from it. In truth, now that I've retired, I probably don't really any longer need a Win8.1 machine as I rarely now have to verify software on it. It's an absolutely awful desktop anyway. Good riddance. As my fix attempts also broke Win8.1, I also can't now deactivate the BIAB that's on it.

I had that problem on my tower PC, I had to unplug the Win HD for it to boot Linux each time. I made a Linux install on a USB 3 stick for my sister's HP notepad that seem to work using the laptop's boot menu.

I made a Linux install on a USB 3 stick for my sister's HP notepad that seem to work using the laptop's boot menu. They were partitions on the same SSD drive, so wiping the partitions was my best try. Didn't work. Win8.1's desktop was cra^H^H^H suboptimal anyway. Whatever, it's done and AVL:MXE now has the entire one terabyte SSD to itself, my touch-screen PC is back and I'm feeling less stressed about a forthcoming sound setup and rehearsal. I have another laptop that I could fall back onto, but it's Windows, has no built-in touchscreen, and getting an external touch screen reliable has been an issue. A mouse works at a pinch, the touchpad is useless/scary for live sound. I could also connect a touch screen direct to the mixer, but I find it a bit slow and clumsy like that.

Was just over at the Reaper forum, I don't know if the user number is anything to go by, but it gives an idea: ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=28009&filename=Reaper-Mac-Lin.png)

Was just over at the Reaper forum, I don't know if the user number is anything to go by, but it gives an idea: Curious ... I don't see the viewing numbers. Numbers of threads and posts differ more, but then Reaper for Linux is much more recent than Win & Mac versions. Similar thread/post ratios on Mixbus forum; Ardour has more Linux than the others as one might expect. There are almost certainly more people interested in and/or using Linux than people tend to think. Of my circle, most just use tablets, but of those that use PCs around 1/4 use Linux at least some of the time. I may have been partly responsible for that, though, so my circle may have a skew.

I think Reaper was working flawlessly under Wine but they still made a native version. PG would have to go the JUCE way to get a Linux version otherwise they would need another 6 months in a year to make the Linux version, so you would need a 18 month year, 24 months for iPad, 30 months for Android also...... Going JUCE will give iPad/Android as well all at the same time. If these run, Biab should run: The Top 4 DAWs for iPad Best DAW for Android It all just seems like a no brainer, I really can't see Biab lasting into the future how it is now without development of something new in parallel behind the scenes. After seeing Logic for iPad with a chord track and AI session musicians that play along to it, the writing is most definitely on the wall.
