I was auditioning RT guitar tracks the other night and noticed that in spite of having installed up to update 294, there were still some tracks that required the player volume to be pushed to max while others needed to be pulled down to half volume.

Anyone recall a message from PG about addressing this issue?

Maybe you also need to install the RealTracks updates, which are separate from the builds.

I reported a problem like this during beta testing, and PG Music solved it via updates to the Real Tracks. As Mac said, you do not get this just by updating to build #294; it's a separate, large file. The last update was Dec. 22. Go here: http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windows_realdrums.htm

Did you notice any particular Real Track(s)? If so, you could report the volume discrepancy.

If you have 2010 do you need the DEC 22 updates to RT ? I can't seem to tell.

John, it depends on when you got yours. There was a post when this patch came out, about how to tell, but that's awhile ago.

If I recall correctly, the update checks file dates and only updates what needs updating, so it can't hurt.

The only part that hurts is I only have dialup so it's off to the Library.

Matt - I did a double check and I do have the update you linked me to.

Guess I should have made notes when I started auditioning them but I was in a hurry to find a certain style of playing, and slowly started to become aware of having to slide the volume control up and down. Ah well . . . I'll pay more attention from now on.

Would have thought the guitar tracks would have been normalized right after the point of recording.
It was also my understanding that this "level" problem had been taken care of.

Ian, OK. Just to be sure it isn't something corrupted, did you do a Opts, Return to Factory Settings?

But I've noticed this as well, especially when I mix 'odd' combinations of Real Tracks, like a bossa nylon acoustic guitar and a samba bass and Jeff Lorber piano. The relative volumes of the real tracks are often all over the place.

John - understood! Maybe it's worth it to first find the post about this from Andrew or one of the PG staff; it gave file dates to check.

If I did a new-purchase install in the last week or two, I assume I've got the latest RT builds and don't need to do anything, correct?

Well, you should have all updated RealTracks, since there haven't been any RealTracks updates that have been issued by themselves since before that time.

However, you might keep an eye on the *program updates* page to make sure you always download and install the latest program update. There have been occasional RealTracks small updates added to that one as well.

Help -> About will tell you which version you are currently running so you can easily compare to the update page version to see.

Thanks, Mac.

I have build 294. I know that 295 Beta is out there. I'll wait until they strip the beta off.
