Maybe anyone can help me out of this: Can BIAB play me a m7b9 chord? (Dorian b9)

I checked the Chord Builder but can't find an option for these chords. Guess I am missing something but I can't find any flat 9ns for minor chords there. What a pity - I'd really like to have a b9!

Cheers,

Sept.

I don't find it in the Chord List as supported.

If you really have to hear it, you might try going up a minor third from the root and making a dom7 as a slash chord.

For example, Cm7b9 could be entered as Eb7/C

It would sound right, but the printed part would not look right...

No. What Mac said is something many of us have faced at one time or another, when we encounter a chord type that is not directly supported. Part of the game is overcoming this kind of challenge, or deciding it is not worth the effort. The other part is posting the request on the Wishlist.

@Mac: Thanks a lot - as I wrote, I missed something obvious. Voicing a dom7 over the minor third of the root works perfectly, at least as long as the style or realtrack does support slash chords, which is not always the case. And sure you want to hear a b9 in the chord when practicing Dorian b9 mode. ;-)

Anyway, I think BIAB should provide the chords of the main scales that is Major, HM and MM imho. Maybe that's something for the wishlist.

My post may have come across poorly. It wasn't meant to be nasty. I apologize.

When I read Mac's post, I read it as: "Well, if you really have to hear it..." as if Mac finds that voicing truly unpleasant, which I thought was funny.

But his workaround is beautifully simple.

Regarding workarounds such as that, I used to do something similar for beginner and intermediate guitarists in school bands. If a score had, say, D11 (or D9sus4), I got a lot of concerned looks. I would tell them to change it to C/D or Amin7/D and just play the C major or Amin7 and let the bass player worry about the slash note. For Cmaj9, I'd just say play Emin7 and it'll sound fine when the bass player plays the C.
