I have a Yamaha MG10/2 Mixer. It has RCA rec outs. I had to remove my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card due to problems with getting a driver from M-Audio for WinMediaCenter OS(ugh!) that my computer came with. I reinstalled an old lower end Turtle Beach card. Any thoughts on sending my rec out to the line-in of the TB card, or might I have a better path with a RCA to USB cable? Will latency be the deciding issue?
I will probably A-B both but was wondering what you guys thought.
thanks martin

Line Level Audio signal is the same regardless of the type of jack on the soundcard. If, for example, the TB card uses 1/4" Line Inputs, you can get two "barrel" adaptors at a store like Radio Shack and put them at the end of your RCA-to-RCA cable. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....rentPage=family There are also other size adaptors and cables available, for example, if your Line Inputs on the soundcard are the 1/8" miniature stereo jack, a cable used to connect stereo tape deck or CD player, etc. to the soundcard can be used: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2290564 --Mac

I use a Santa Cruz TB Card with my XG daughterboard. Line in from the mixer is just fine for my needs through a stereo 1/8 plug.

I guess my question is: Would going from my mixer to a USB2 on the computer(not on the soundcard) be better, worse, same as a line-in on a low end card?
thanks

You haven't given enough info about the "lower end" card to say. Turtlebeach hardly made "low end" soundcards, though. They have a good rep.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
I remember paying pretty good money for the the old Turtlebeach cards because they had ADCs (Analog to Digital Converters) and DACs (Digital to Analog Converters) with fairly flat frequency response, which is critical for recording and playback of your signal "as-is".

Just like Ian's. A Santa Cruz bought around 5 years ago at Circuit City for about $30.
Has 1/8" mini-plug stereo line-in

Bought mine for about the same on e-bay. It will also allow you to record four input tracks into PT, and I assume RB, at once. Don't believe it was designed for Vista - their web site is still active with a lot of archive stuff, but I think they stopped making drivers at XP. In case you need the website Turtle Beach link Ian
