I thought I would post this little song in appreciation of the kind and patient band in a box community who helped me to get the whole midi-daw-vst-dxi confusion under the belt. I first selected a midi-style, rather randomly, and had BIAB compose a melody. Then changed all except the melody track to real styles. For the melody track I used Philharmonik, by IK multimedia and the instrument 3 trumpets staccato.
Vangelis, watch out. here I come! Well maybe not quite, but I am pretty pleased with how this little exercise worked out!

Hi Oom Karel,
A very short song and everything seems to be in midi.
I tought you were Dutch because of that artist name of yours; Uncle Charles.
The song is, I think, a try out?
The stacatto trumpets work fine at first, but then I want to here also more long tones from them
Too much staccato alter the song.
I hope you will expand the song. In time and in wav-quality.
It has a lot of nice things in it to make it more interesting.

Hi Oom Karel,
You should be very pleased as this is a real good start. I do agree that some long notes would add a lot to this song. Also you might want to increase the volume on those trumpets as well as work on the ending.
But I must say that you have come a long way in a very short time.
When you are at the checkout line and they ask if you found everything say "Why, are you hiding stuff?"

Thank you for your comments guys. Yes, it was not meant to be an award winning composition, but just to show off the prowess that I have acquired in midi. No doubt I have only just started on the learning curve!
As for being Dutch, there are very strong linguistic links between Dutch and Afrikaans, and Oom does indeed mean uncle, but in Afrikaans the word is used in a very broad sense... anyone that looks a bit older than oneself is Oom, not just family.
