I have Band-in-a-Box MegaPAK Upgrade 2024 for Mac & XPro Styles PAK 7 for Mac . I upgraded from Band-in-a-Box Pro 2023 for Mac

I use my BIAB for mostly practicing jazz tunes.

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for addins -xstra style packs, real packs etc that would give me more straight ahead small group jazz styles, like more bebop, hard bop, cool jazz and especially styles that are latin/swing -- meaning for example the A section is bossa and the B section is swing.
with my setup I only have a few latin/swing styles. the one real style i have that is bossa/swing does not seem to work very well.

Id appreciate any advice

thanks
david

A log of the Xtra Styles Paks require Ultra-Pak or higher. However, anything from the XPro Styles Pak, should work with your Mega Pak. See this link, which has Demos available:

I did figure out that theoretically you can right click on the "section" part of a bar and select a different style.
So i should be able to have it play a bossa style A section and then swing style B section
but it doesnt seem to work or I am not doing it right.
also I see how to make multistyles from exisitng styles in the manual but I am not doing that right either.
I must say the learning curve on BIAB is nuts. in the future PG Music really needs to focus on making it easier to use. it has enough features.
eventually I will figure out how to make it do bossa swing
thanks

I play a fair amount of jazz .
I generally use BIAB to create backing tracks after I decide wish to perform a certain tune.
BIAB can create extremely high quality tracks I can use live.

For woodshedding I use Irealpro just to get the tune under my belt
Its got all the features one needs for practice
Its just a lot quicker. Not as realistic, but good enough for the shed.

Inside BIAB I do mess around with the drummers as I move from A B. sections; For example If I pick Bossa Terry Clarke I can right click and use the Variations sub window (mid right) to select whether i want brushes or stucks, blastix, busy or what not.

Sometimes the variation between A&B sections is really cool. Often it takes some patience.

Another think is make sure you select "vary middle choruses" in your song select. This is a great way to get your solo choruses a little amped up from the head.

Good Luck

Select the position that you want to change styles and press function key <F5> then change the style to suit in the dialog that is presented.
You can also set the specific chorus to make the change(s) at.
Note that you cannot mix MIDI and Real Styles this way, both styles need to be either Real Styles or MIDI Styles.

I was able to successfully have it switch styles by picking a bossa style then adding a jazz swing style as the C & D sections and assigning those sections to bars by right clicking on the bars. so my problem is solved.

IMHO BIAB is better for practicing jazz tunes than IRP when you are a bass player as it plays the melody and solos.
playing bass lines under that is better training and more fun .
if I was a horn player id probably not bother with it and just use IRP

thanks
