Lookin' In Your Eyes "You'd think that people would've had enough of silly love songs. But I look around me and I see it isn't so. Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs. And what's wrong with that? I'd like to know. 'Cause here I go AGAIN..." Thanks, Sir Paul. The lyrics, music and performances here precede what we now know as AI. So if there's any intelligence here at all, it was human. The jury is out. Funny story (to me)...The first time I listened to my scratch vocals on this version I didn't like the music I had written at all. Got up the next morning to rewrite the song but listened to the previous day's version again. Huh. Somehow, it sounded exactly right. Sent it to Dusty for finished vocals straight away. Anyway...Interesting how a few hours of separation can refresh one's perspective. This "may" be my lyricist's favorite song of ours. FWIW, Mrs Lyricist has blue eyes. She's listed on SoundCloud as DC Ron Fan Club President. Yeah, she's pretty cool, even if she has questionable taste. Ha! And THANK YOU in advance for any listens and/or input. Sir Peyawl was merely supplying justification for his VERY silly or mawkish songs of that era. Your song is rather better. "A cyan crayon and aquamarine" - I know what you're going for but it seems a little clunky. fab band, fab mix and the BVox are cooool. Well done.

Brilliant instrumentation and arrangement. Great love song lyrics and production. Can never have too many love songs. Keep them coming.

Silly love songs are the best . . . and let's be honest . . . they are pretty much the majority of every song ever written. From a production standpoint, the vocal seems a tad bit . . . and I mean really a tad . . . out front. But seems much less so the more I listen. But that aside . . . DANG . . . this is such a cool listen. Love the "looking in your eyes" hook . . . really engaging . . . and love those "ooh" background vocals . . . very well done.
Excellent tune!! ' Deej

Dagger through my heart on the "cyan" line though--it's my favorite!! But what's a silly love song without a clunky line or two? Saw Wings Over America in spring of 1976. According to the set list posted online, they played "Silly Love Songs" but it didn't detract from the fab show. The Maca tune I find the most loathsome is a slightly later one, "Ebony and Ivory". I mean...WHAT??

Hi Ron.
This is really, really good. I love the sound that you've created. These lyrics, the song itself, the vocals, arrangement, mix... everything had me under its spell. The chorus was a standout for me. Lyrics centred around the colour blue appealed to me greatly. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this.

Excellent tune!! ' Deej Hey, Deej. THANKS for the listen and the input. You're right about the opening vocals. What I'd done on an earlier version is bump up the piano track a dB or so until the rest of the band kicked in. That kept the vocals in scale with the backing a bit better. When I substituted piano tracks near the end of the final production I forgot to bump the piano back up. So...GOOD CATCH! Man, you guys don't miss ANYTHING... UPDATE: Opening section updated with louder piano. THANKS again! Glad you enjoyed the tune!

Okay, now I'm a fan of your fan club president. Very cool song, Dan. Man, excellent lyrics. Sounds to me you are also a fan of your fan club prez. In my educated opinion, you both have great taste. It would be cool if Sir Paul would hear this one. Hey, if we can't write of love...

I love that chorus! "It’s all sapphire and denim blue jeans/A cyan crayon and aquamarine" and I like these lines.
Great write and a classic 80s feel.

fj THANKS, Floyd! I sometimes describe my "songwriting is storytelling" approach poorly. To inexactly recap, for each lyric (which is not mine), I'm seeking to compose a supportive harmonic/melodic/dynamic narrative. I don't always get it right. Not by a LONG shot. But your comment "Big and small in all the right places. Interesting changes throughout." neatly sums up what I'm going for. So...I'm really happy I hit the mark, at least with you. REALLY appreciate the feedback!

Your song has chugging guitars, so I'm already with you. If you assume that love itself is a silly thing, there CAN only be silly love songs. And yours is really good. No reason to be ashamed. I've written sillier ones

Merry Christmas! Geez, I can be a jerk sometimes. Maybe more. Apologies!! Ron

Ron,
Dusty always comes through for you. I really enjoy his vocals.
Super lyric and outstanding arrangement. Your production skills really shine in this one. I particularly enjoyed those tom rolls between some of the lines - sneaky, inobtrusive, and a treat. The chorus was the perfect choice for further expanding the soundstage.
Everything sits perfectly in an excellent mix and production.
Merry Christmas.
Alan
