In PTPA 11 is it possible to edit markers that have already been inserted? I know you can delete them and insert new ones as a workaraound but I was just wondering if this facility exists.

Hi Marc - are you talking about the a & b green/blue substyle patches which are in the "chord" window?
You can alter them but it does nothing musically - just cosmetic. I use PT 12 - same thing.

The only effect it has musically is that if you are going to insert an RD track (not sure you can in PT11) it will add "drum fills" where the new part markers are. On the midi tracks which were created in BIAB, the effect on the midi music of the BIAB part markers, will remain.

Hope that helps.

Ian

Idoubt he's talking about Part Markers, which only apply to Band in a Box or RealBand.

I think this is about the Markers we can add along the timeline in PT.

I don't think there's a quick way to Edit them, I have always just deleted and added a new one, but I don't use them all that often and there might be an Edit for them somewhere.

those are the ones, Mac.

"Markers can be inserted anywhere in the song to mark sections, such as Intro, Verse, and Chorus using the Window | Show Markers Window option. These buttons (L and R arrows) are used to jump to the next marker in either direction from the current location." (from p38 of the PTPA 11 manual).

I know of no other kind of marker.

I find them a huge time saver in many processes.

Thanks Ian. I'm not, but I know what you mean - even my prehistoric version of b-i-a-b (7.d) has these.

I think they only work in the "classic" bars window. At least ver 9 was like that. Just got 12. Have to try it. They are a big help.

They are a huge help, in that they divide the song into sections.
I find this particularly useful when auditioning patches for the different tracks.
The secret is to enable the loop function and select 'this song section'.

I'm pretty sure the markers 'work' from any navigation window (even if you can't see them), in the sense that if you click on the single L or R arrow, the cursur will move, respectively back or forward to the next marker.
