don't know what to 'wish' for, but I can say what I'd shoot with a cannon every time I deal with it:
1. when I open the full leadsheet window, no matter on which bar I click, the program NEVER starts playback on that bar. It's always a bunch of bars before, or later. It's useless. I might as well print the damn leadsheet in a pdf, at least I can look at it while the music plays
2. I save my own projects in a separate folder, but keep all the other BB files in the application folder, where they were installed. Simple, right? The reason is that I keep my projects with ANY program, separate from the program installation files, because one thing has nothing to do with another. But BB never gets that right, because you can only have 1 place from which it opens files, regardless of what they are, so it reverts always to the last location used.
3. That charming installer. I love it. For the last 4 days I have been downloading the huge files for the 2025 Ultrapak+. That's not something to blame. It's the way it is. What I don't understand is why the dumb thing requires me to hunt for the link every damn time I turn the computer on to start downloading the files. I mean, does it takes a genius to understand that some of us try to get stuff done and don't want to waste time doing unnecessary things?
In PG Music's defence: maybe Apple spoiled me. Every time I use a new feature of theirs I can see how they want to avoid the user to do stuff that is useless. I must say, in general I hate computers and have no patience whatsoever with them. But come on. I had to enter that damn link a couple of dozen times in 4 days.
Look, PG Music: most of us are just musicians, and aren't computer nerds. Why is that so hard to understand?
One thing I like: when I click 'help', the manual appears under my nose. I don't have to hunt for it. In most other programs the stupid thing takes me on a website, which is really dumb. And BB even links to video tutorials. Good. So hey, kudos, for a change. Just wanted to write something positive too. BB always has lots of potential, otherwise I would not be here, I am no forum person. I don't like forums, and I never use them, this one is an exception, because of the program, not the forum.

You've made some interesting suggestions. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
I don't know if the Mac program handles song project folders differently but I'd like to share what I do in Windows. I create a song project folder on my desktop. Normally the folder name is as simple as the name of the song although sometimes I add the month and year. EVERYTHING regarding the song project goes inside the song folder including notes, lyric sheet and sub folders created by Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) or a DAW. Once a song is complete or I'm tired of working on it the desktop folder is moved to archive storage.
I'm not sure if the installer you mention is the Download Manager or the individual program and content installers.
The Download Manager is updated frequently as the program and content are updated. The BEST way to ensure you are installing current stuff is to use the Download Manager.
Some users store their installers in a secure location. The issue is one or more installers may receive an update and you may not realize it.
If you keep the installer files in the download folder then you can download just the Download Manager and it will tell you if any files need updating.
I'm glad you appreciate the "Help" file. I like it too.

I like the Help file too. Saved me a bunch of times, I especially use the Index option.
About the file location: when BIAB is installed, there used to be a question or a step to associate BIAB with Windows. Doing so meant the SGU file or MGU file could be anywhere; double-click on it an BIAB loads.
Related, within BIAB there is a pull-down in the main Preferences to select what happens when BIAB starts. The option I use most is to load the previous saved song.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
