I can't understand what 'simple arrangement' does, because to me it seems to do absolutely nothing.

Even with a simple pop style, a very simple chord progression such as I-vi-IV-V, and 'simple arrangement' for that track, it's totally cuckoo, BB slaps a brilliant C sharp out of nowhere. Pic attached.

I am forced to just write 'chords' such as G5 to kill as many notes as possible, but even then sometimes I find seconds.

In this same track, a pop piano was playing the chord F as a cluster, with notes D and E rammed into the chord. With 'simple arrangement'. Just incredible. Not to mention, why does BB plays the seventh? There's written G there, if I wanted G7, I would have written that. BB seems to be like a deaf chef who puts too much spice in his food: you can shout all you want how you want the food the way YOU like it, but he just doesn't get it.

Why does PG Music seems to assume that we don't know our chords, and it tries to think for us?

As I suggested elsewhere: an option to play - only minor and major triads - seems to be painfully missing in this program. If that were there, for me BB would be an INCREDIBLE program.

Maybe a return to factory settings would fix the problem.

Another suggestion is to change the song's key signature. Sometimes a RealTracks artist will use a different chord progression in a riff because different key signatures use different common chord progressions.

Try altering the song's tempo so the program selects different RealTracks. Chord progressions are played different at different tempos.

Ya, when BIAB does something which it is not supposed to do, it is time for RTFS.

I tried to reproduce what you are reporting. Used same style and chords. Selected "simple arrangement". Certainly no out of key notes (C#). But I did get notes other than triad, (i.e., 2nd and 7th). This is what I would expect.

In your picture with the C#, assuming it's enharmonically a Db then it's a flat five on the G7 chord. I could see that being a perfectly normal enhancement for a real artist to play. Elsewhere in your many threads it was mentioned that you cannot control voicings, but you can usually 'fix' such things by several methods including editing and partial regeneration. I will just add that an artist might simply have thought the 7flat five sounded good here. QUESTION: Did you have a melody note in the song file? If for example the melody was Cnatural or D, then I think BIAB would have avoided that C#.

I don't think you have commented that you read the article I wrote on the subject of 'wrong' chords, in the Tips and Tricks forum. What did you think of that? Anything to add or change?

In another conversation someone remarked initiating the "fix sour notes" feature worked on a similar issue.

As I have explained elsewhere, I just post suggestions for PG Music. I never read replies. Ever. I don't really care what anyone thinks in relation to my suggestions, I know enough about music and learned from standardized and credible sources.

Agree or disagree about my suggestions, it's all the same to me. What matters is that PG Music considers them and hopefully implements them. I am looking forward to the next upgrade on my Mac, IF any of these improvements will be there. Band in a Box is either brilliant, which is rare, or in serious need of improvements, rather than in need of additional features, which seem to be the plan PG Music seems to go for.

Working musicians don't much care for zillions of features, they try to work as fast and as simply as possible, with the least amount of headache.
