I'm not getting a lot in finding my way in RB with mainly ACW in RB. I get it in BB, with the tutorial vids, but ACW seems to be a different animal in BB. I don't see any setting in RB ACW for letting the program set the barlines automatically once I've tapped in the first few in real time. Having just done this as I've been typing this, it seems to be that it's set to that feature by default. Am I right about that? In BB, I feel like I've had to do more to get the barlines to sync up correctly.

ACW also seems to automatically analyze the chords, which is a function that can be shut off in BB. Is that true, also?

First question - yes, RB looks ahead and adjusts based on your input as default

Second question - That depends on which selections you make when the ACW first opens.
There is a popup that happens and asks if you want to do tempo only or do you want to figure the chords too.
It is very easy to click past that popup without realizing its importance.

So, I must have missed the chord analysis dialogue box. In RB, the chord analysis seemed to work decently. Probably the same as BB.

However, the auto barlines after my initial input for a couple of barlines seems to be right on, and so much simpler than the same in BB. Is this common? I can't even imagine I started doing ACW in BB if it's this much easier in RB. I'm not finished with what I started to do in RB, but splittng the Stems and trying to build a band of different instrumentation and changing the groove of the tune underneath the Vocal Stem seems like it's far more productive in RB.

What would be the upside of starting a tune in BB, other than the documentation and video tutorials are far more available?

Okay, now I'm starting to see some issues.

ACW did a good job in automatically filling in the barlines with the Stems. I did my corrections with the chords, but it did a pretty good job there, too. However, I used PIANOHLD Style, froze the Stems, and generated all for the style to kick in. I figured this would be a good way to hear the metronome and possibly tweak the timing with the Metronome, which is the style(Metronome w/ Held Piano Chords).

The Generated style is out of time with the Stems. The drum track(which is Metronome) is ahead of the Stems. It's pretty dizzying. Why would the Generated BB Tracks not be aligned with the barlines, therefore not aligned with the Stems? It sounds like a really lazy vocalist, although the vocal sounds great with the rest of the stems, just not with the BB Tracks.

Actually, now I realize that it's the Held Piano chords and Metronome that sound lazy. They're lagging behind the vocal stem.

Lets get this out of the way ..
Is the part that is sounding behind MIDI tracks, and the stems are WAV?

Yes, I find ACW in RB much more enjoyable & productive too. Must be how we think it *should work ..

Well, yes, it is the held piano, bass, and click track drums. So, the stems don't play well with MIDI?

Sounds like MIDI latency.
The MIDI is taking a sec to start generating sound.

What are you using for MIDI driver in RB?

Okay, so the Image tag isn't working correctly. Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth.

well, ReRoute MIDI is not checked and there is no default synth selected in your image.

What you are currently using is the Operating System MIDI .. the slowest possible solution.

Okay, since that pic, I did check off ReRoute and pointed out to Coyote. Is that a better choice?

The delay is due to a problem which I reported back in April 2025 and it seems it's a bug which is in versions of RB since 2022. Simon has raised a case for it, but for the meantime there is a work-around - it seems the delay is only present when the metronome is turned off. Switch it on and the problem goes away.

ROG hits another winner
I forgot about that one.

/Not sure why OP asked me if those settings were better, when he is the only one that can hit play and find out

Well, I haven't been getting to RB much lately but I changed the setting. I'm not aware of much about MIDI latency, so I was just asking about if those changed settings are generally a better option. I wasn't aware that the previous settings were particularly slow(maybe just the user is slow 🙃).

yeah, those are better but see ROG's post
Try turning on the metronome and see how much that helps.
He pointed out a bug I had forgot about, he reported in April
