hello, here is my problem: When I listen to a midi file in powertrack or RealBand, the rendering is quite acceptable. By cons, when I read the same midi file in BIAB, it is totally different. I suppose this is due to different styles. I wish I could have made that same powertrack in BIAB. Is this possible? And if so, can you explain how?
Thank you in advance

I said: I am a beginner guitarist. I listen to midi file into PowerTracks and send the tracks in the software trackion 3 (lanes PowerTracks => midi mapple => trackion 3).
Using a control surface (behringer BCF2000), I mixed all the tracks of midi file.
Powertrack can not see the chord symbols.
BIAB allows me to see the chord symbols, but does not allow me to send different tracks in trackion 3. And render the file is different.

Question: Is there a patch that allows a PowerTracks (or RealBand) display chord symbols?
Question: can you play midi files in BIAB with the same record as PowerTracks?

thank you in advance

First, it is important to understand that MIDI files do not have a standard for chord data and that the chords you see inside BiaB are extrapolated from the note data in the MIDI file by the BiaB Wizard. Great little option, but often confuses people into thinking that the MIDI file itself has the Chord Data in it. There are some Chord Data schemes out there, but there is no standard to it and some are proprietary to the company that does them, others are getting more popular, maybe in future there will be a MIDI Standard for chord data, meanwhile we have what we have.

PowerTracks and RB can indeed extrapolate the chords from a MIDI file, in the same fashion that BB will -- but I don't think that RB has the ability to place those chords on the autoaccomaniment Chord Grid, which you don't need anyway to just play the MIDI file. Same thing as Disabling the Style in BB, you wouldn't want a separate autoaccompaniment going on while that MIDI file is playing all of its own notes. Check the Notation View in Powertracks and RB for the chords it finds.

Yes.

What you want is to simply load and play the MIDI, without any Style file for autoaccompaniment playing along with it.

Just RightClick on the Style name in the Stylepicker slot and choose, Disable Style. This can only be seen once a MIDI file has been loaded to the BiaB Melody Track SEQ sequencer. Once Disabled, the style should have an "X" in front of its name to indicate that none of the autoaccompaniment tracks (Bass, Drums, Piano, Guit, etc.) will play when the MIDI file is played back.

hello and thank you for your prompt response.
I understand the operation of BIAB and PWT rb: They read a midi file and "offers" coaching. This support is visible on the windows "notation". BIAB displays chord symbols but PWT rb displays and agreements, but without symbols.
I also understand that "support" is not part of the midi file.
I confess, I seek ease. The idea is to create an additional track after "support", and this automatically.

To understand my problem, I invite you to listen to a midi file (I can send it by mail)
Initially, Listen with the PWT. Then listen to it in BIAB. the difference is very important.
I understand that:
In PWT, each track is individual midi file in IADB, the tracks of midi file is distributed and transferred to the tracks "solo, melody, strings, piano ... etc ...)
On mixing with tracktion3, I attribute to each track (PWT is the source) a plug of effect: Ex: "AmpliTube" for electric guitar tracks, "Addictive Drums" for the drum track ... etc. ...
If BIAB is the source, I could have, for example in the track ropes possibly plug "AmpliTube" any instrument. "AmpliTube" plug is only dedicated to the guitar

Here, finally my question: How can there have no difference between listening to a midi file read by BIAB and the same file read by PWT? You replied that I could turn off the style. Thank you very much, I knew we could do that.
But in this case, how are the tracks of midi file, and how to allocate my mix?

if I will use BIAB to the mix, giving each BIAB tracks ( "soloist, strings, etc. ..) the corresponding plug. ?

Please forgive me my broken English. You've probably guessed, I am French.

Again thank you

Non, mon ami.

When a MIDI file is loaded in Band in a Box, the entire MIDI file is placed on the Melody Track and is played by the built in Sequencer, accessed by the round green SEQ button.

The only track in play is the Melody track.

Perhaps you have a much older version of Band in a Box?

What version of Band in a Box are you using?

Hi

I have the 2009 version of BIAB.

I tried to disable the styles but the sound is not made the same as PWT. Too bad.

I do not know what to do ... Both BIAB is a software for everything that is complicated, as much for something simple (= play a midi file) is a galley.
Comparatively, PWT is closer to what I want to do, but it does not display these chords symbols

Thanks you again

Something is going on other than the MID file playback.

Your BB may be set to use a different MIDI synth than PTW.

my midi synth is "hyper canvas" for pwt and Biab to.

I tried other software to play midi files. and of course play the same midi file:
"melody harmony assistant"
"bigboss 2003"
"psycle"
"songtrix"

Only the sound rendering of BIAB is really too different
