If anyone has this issue, check that you have the latest version of Roland Cloud Manager installed and you are logged in. When the issue occurs, Sound Canvas VA provides a pop up with instructions for logging in on the web, but they are incorrect.

Interestingly, the nice folks at Roland reminded me that Sound Canvas VA is "no longer supported" but helped me figure this out anyway.
