Hey, all. I recently updated to 2026 on Windows. I have a ton of song files I found online so I don't have to input everything myself. They load fine and play fine, but there's an issue. I hit generate and I see the program generate the real tracks. The second the song starts to play the bar numbers on the ruler vanish, and if I try to use the scroll arrows on the right side of the screen it glitches out and I can't scroll.
Is there a solution to this or are these 5000+ files doomed to have this problem? Maybe there's a batch script out there somewhere that can fix this?
As I'm aware, the right-hand scroll bar only works with Chordsheet and Tracks. The Leadsheet View has always been a horizontal scroll process. The scroll bar at the bottom moves through the on-screen pages. During playback, the leadsheet changes to the next page after the last bar on the current on-screen page is played. When playback is stopped, if you click on the last bar shown on the on-screen page to highlight it in red and then press the right arrow (→), the on-screen view will also move to the next page.
In relation to the bar numbers, click on the gear icon on the upper right of the leadsheet (see the arrow on the image below) and double-check that the option "every bar" is selected for "Show bar numbers".
Hey, Noel. Thanks for the reply. I didn't even realize there were settings for each indvidual function (tracks, chords, etc.) That's a huge help.
It's not the bar numbers in the notation that are the problem. I didn't have those either but I do now, thanks to you. It's the bar numbers in the horizontal ruler. They appear before I hit play, but once I hit play they vanish. I've attached two screenshots to show what I mean. Is this not a bug but a feature?
I'm sorry. I misinterpreted what you were meaning.
These are working fine for me. When BIAB stops doing things that it usually does, running the "Return to Factory Settings" and then selecting the MOST option often will solve the problem. This is located under the "Options" menu.
Alternatively, I am running Build 1240 (which is being tested by selected users at the moment before public release). Andrew from PG Music posted a link to this a couple of days ago.
If you want to install that and see if it fixes your problem, simply download the file and then run it. You will need to double-check that the locations of your Realtracks and Realdrums are correct.
I've been running the update for a week now without any issues.
I tried a full factory reset and ran into the same problem. I downloaded the new version from the link you sent me, installed it, and....[it's installing now]
That actually made it worse! Now the numbers don't even appear on a blank brand new song.
It sounds like something is happening on your system that is outside what I've encountered. I'll refer this thread to the PG Music developers. Hopefully that will produce results.
One last thing you can try is the ultimate factory reset. You will need to reset your audio/MIDI drivers after doing this.
1) Close BIAB 2) Go to \bb\preferences 3) Rename intrface.bbw to intrface.bbw.old 4) Rename MySetup.DK to MySetup.DK.old 5) Open BIAB
These are setup files and the renames remove the files from BIAB's loading routine. When BIAB is opened new versions of the files will be created. If this process doesn't solve the issue, to return to your original set-up files: simply close BIAB; delete the new two new files; remove the ".old" from the names of the renamed files.
Another thought that just popped into my mind... Try setting the Song Overview Location to a different position rather than under the main menu. That might give it a jump-start to appear correctly. To do this...
1) Click on the gear icon that the arrow is pointing to in the image below. 2) Select and alternative option for the location of the 'Song Overview Location' bar. 3) Click APPLY / OK
Thanks for all your suggestions. I spoke with, I think, Alistair today and sent him some screenshots and we tested various zoom settings on my copy of Windows 11.
It works fine at 100% but it breaks at higher scalings. I have an ultra-high-def monitor so I need the higher scalings because otherwise everything is tiny. He said he was going to forward the issue to the developers.
On a positive note I sent a recording of myself playing with Band in a Box to a friend of mine who loves jazz. She thought it was an actual jazz band.
Thanks for the update on this. I've been watching the thread closely as I am also surprised by your situation. So yes, it may be related to screen resolution. (Not the first time )
Keep us posted.
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
It's intentional that the bar numbers disappear when there are too many to fit properly. Your song (in your screenshot) has 200 bars. That said, we can improve the way that works so that some numbers still display.
What's curious however is why, in your screenshot, the Overview bar is not correct before you press play - it's only displaying about 100 bars. I'm not sure why that would be, unless it has something to do with the way you loaded that song. I would be interested to know if it updates when you mouse over the overview area after loading in that song.
Hey, Andrew. Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that BB lists the bars properly in the song's raw form, but then they disappear because I have too many choruses? That's how jazz works, though.
Could you add a third color to indicate when a new chorus starts? Blue and green for section breaks, maybe an imperial purple for the top of a chorus? Green would make the most logical sense, but that would mean changing your current color scheme.
Are you saying that BB lists the bars properly in the song's raw form, but then they disappear because I have too many choruses?
Nope, I'm saying that your song actually has 200 bars in total, and the song overview doesn't display them all until you play the song for some unknown reason. So when your song loads, the overview incorrectly shows fewer bars, then it corrects itself when you play the song (according to your screenshots). The bar numbers disappearing for a song overview of 200 bars IS something that is expected for some display resolutions/window sizes, in the current build.
