Play Me A Sad One A rare waltz. The lyrics were written by Peter’s life time friend and music partner Leon Sewell. Given the length and tempo we tried to create a build that includes multiple Janice vocal parts. If want to check it out your time to listen is much appreciated. Comments are welcomed and as always thanks to PG Music. Janice: vocals (lead, lead double on part of the bridge, 3rd above and fifth below harmonies), melody, progression, arrangement and mix. Peter: guitar solos/fills, solo chord mods, arrangement and mix. What a beautiful, deeply moving piece!
The 3/4 waltz time signature gives it such a rare,
nostalgic charm that you don't hear often enough these days.
Janice’s vocals are absolutely incredible;
she delivers the emotion perfectly,
and the way the vocal layers build up throughout the track is stunning.
Leon's lyrics are pure poetry, and the production quality sounds top-notch.
That guitar solo is the perfect emotional peak.
You've truly proven that sometimes a sad song is exactly what the spirit needs to heal.
Beautiful work to everyone involved! 🎶✨

Hi Janice and Bud (and Peter and Leon)
I agree with what Andi said about the 3/4 time - we seem to be living in a 4/4 straight feel world, so to hear something other than that is a treat, and man is yours a wonderful example of that. I was blown away by the great musicianship all round, and particularly Janice’s vocals. I looked at Bud’s mixing notes and thought ‘I’m not worthy’. Good all round effort, and that’s understating the brilliance of it.

Amazing in all aspects...
That piano with Janice singing is just so beautiful. I love when Peter comes in underneath with his melancholy tones. Such a well crafted song.
The mix & mastering on this is so refined. It's almost an immersive experience when listening through room speakers.

Andrew Wow! Andrew that is very kind of you. We are very happy you liked our rare venture into a waltz production. Thank for the mix mention 😀. It’s actually pretty straightforward - we always have a small number of tracks and strive to have them as much possible support the vocals and solos. I (Bud) started mixing in the 60’s and it’s hugely easier with today’s tech. Janice loved your vocal comment and we appreciate ALL of your very positive comments. Thanks! J&B

Janice, Peter, and Bud, you did it again. That is produced another masterpiece.
Leon's lyrics were outstanding and Janice really brought them to life- brilliant work both of you
Peter's guitar is always spot on, and Bud's production is perfect.
It was nice hearing a 3/4 time song.

The song packs an emotional wallop.
Peter's guitar sounds like the aching spirit mentioned in the chorus. Speaking of the chorus, it was strong and carries the song as it should.
