This one's really got me stumped. Here's what I did: imported a stereo audio file to track one so that I could listen to the song and add several tracks of midi on tracks 2 and below. After importing I ran it through the ACW, set the time signature to 6/8, then manually set the tempo hitting f8 at the beginning of each bar. Sent that to RB and started creating midi tracks that mimicked those on the track 1 audio.
All was going fine. Then I noticed that for some reason if I started playback from any measure after measure 12 the audio on track 1 would cease to sound (no movement on it's meter either). Only the midi tracks below it would sound. But if I started playback from any measure 1 through 12 and let it run, all tracks would sound, including the audio track, to the end of the song. Try to play back from measure 13 or beyond and I only get sound from the midi tracks. Start playback from any measure 1 through 12 and audio on track 1 would also sound, as long as I did not hit stop. Looked at the piano roll view (and audio view for track one) between measures 12 and 13 to see if there were any inadvertent controller commands hanging out but saw nothing. All the audio data is visibly there on track 1.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

Most likely got an error or corrupt spot on the file.
Things to try-
Consolidate the track (track-select whole then track-consolidate audio region) or import the original again
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

That is what happens when there are lots of time signature changes in the audio file.
Here's why:
Those "wandering" time sig changes that you invoked with the ACW are actually commands along the timeline -- in a serial string.
If you stop the Transport, it only has the last command sent.
If you try to start the Transport anywhere else, where another timesig has been invoked by the tempo map, the Transport is still "stuck" on that last timesig command that it got.
Only way around this situation is to always Rewind the Transport to the beginning and let it run from there.
I don't like listening to music that "wanders" in tempo like that. Therefore I don't let stuff like that go out the door. One way around that is to use the Audio to just get the parts, then kill that Audio track and kill the Tempo Map it invoked, then re-record the new MIDI tracks dead to the click. Or find a better audio file of the work if possible, one in which the tempo does not wander.
Still, people spend a lot of time trying to put a saddle on a dead horse...

It looked to me like he changed it to 6/8 for the whole song.. I didn't catch that he had multiple time sigs.
Wonder if changing the time sig inside the ACW is part of the cause as opposed to changing it in the main screen before bringing the audio into the ACW (?) Re-importing the original file to another track (still using the newly adjusted tempo map) would test this.
I have never noticed this problem when only the tempo is adjusted by the ACW. I have never used the ACW to change the time sig, except when there is an odd first measure left over due to the intro space I was given. Even then, the ACW makes the change on its own, it is not something I ask it to do.

Actually, I imported the audio into RB track 1, then noticed the song would need a 6/8 time signature and changed it to 6/8 in the RB track screen before sending the audio over to the ACW. I was curious to see if the ACW picked the time signature up, but it did not; it showed 4/4. So I changed it to 6/8 there also, then mapped out the beat-ones and sent the works back into RB. Then started building the midi tracks. Thats when I noticed the dropping out of the audio track after measure 12 if I happened to stop and restart in that region. No multiple time signatures, just one entire song in 6/8. Because of the customized tempo map I made in the ACW, however, there are multiple tempo changes, as each measure varies a bit on either side of 96 bpm. Don't know if that could be an issue or not. I've had some other quirky issues pop up in other projects when using the ACW to map out tempos per measure and wonder if there are some bugs with this. I'll try your suggestions tonight and see if I can get it to work better. If you have a song that's 200 or so measures it's a p.i.t.a. to have to restart the song every time you want to add another line of midi further on in the song.

I have worked with songs with many many tempo adjustments (small ones) and had no problem.
Maybe it is indeed the 6/8 time that is causing the ACW to err. Haven't done much in that time sig.
However, now that the time sig is right, and the tempo map is set, I would venture to guess that re-importing the original file will help.
Good Luck!

Before attempting to re-import the audio file, I tried your suggestion of highlighting and then Track -> Consolidate Audio Region. This did the trick! I now recall cutting and then re-pasting the track an eighth or so of a beat back a couple of times to better line things up. While trying to find the cause of the audio problem I remember seeing some "audio events" listed in the Event List for that track, but RB would not let me delete them. Now, from reading the help file for Track Consolidate, it appears that these events were causing problems, and re-consolidating the track cleared these events out. Many thanks for pointing this out!

Very cool. That command just takes the track and re-writes it as one continuous piece. That's why the extra events disappeared. Glad it worked.
