I was wondering if any one else has run into a problem that I have been experiencing. When I take a song from BB2010/v299, and export it to a midi file, I get multiple instances of the same note assigned to one note. When I play the midi song, this causes a momentary pause in the playing of the song while "all" the notes are tried to being played. If I go into the midi file and edit these notes (i.e. delete the "extra" notes) the song will play correctly. I have found that the number of "extra" notes assigned to one note can range from 3 to 33. I ran into this problem in previous versions of BB but just now joined the forum so I thought I'd throw this out to the experts and techies.
I am running windows vista with sp2, 4gb ram with a 2.8hz and 1tb hard drive.
Thanak you for any insight into this problem.

Hi,
I haven't seen anything like that specifically. Does it happen for the BB generated tracks (Bass, Piano, etc.) or only tracks that you have recorded/entered (Soloist/Melody)?

Hello Andrew,
It only seems to happen on the BB generated tracks. Specifically the Piano and Guitar tracks. I usually export to a midi file and then add the other tracks.

Michael, welcome to the forum.
I haven't read about anything like that happening to anyone else. Could you try Opt, Return to Factory Settings and see if it makes any difference?
That's very helpful that you told us about your computer, and your description of the problem is also clear. Could you add info on your sound card, and what you have selected for MIDI Output in BIAB? Are you using a DXi?
Does this happen with one style, or any style?
Does the problem happen on all songs?
What program reads the MIDI file you create?
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Hello Matt,
Thanks for the welcome. I've tried everything that I could think of. Returning to factory settings, uninstalling the program and then re-installing it, trying it on a different computer and the results are always the same.
The sound card that I use is a Realtek HD Audio Card. The program that I am exporting to is Sonar. This happens with all styles that I have tried and with all songs.
Thanks for the response Matt. Hopefully somebody can figure this out. It does become very time consuming having to go bar by bar and deleting all the "extra" notes.
Michael

Michael, in the MIDI driver dialog box, is DXi checked?
And what do you have selected as the MIDI Output device?
Just following a hunch: do you ever experience any stutters when playing music on that computer?

Hello Michael,
Perhaps you could email a sample Band-in-a-Box song (.MGU or .SGU file) and the MIDI file created from it, to support @pgmusic.com. If you do this, please reference this forum thread.

Hello Matt,
DXi is not checked.
The Midi output device is a USB Midi 1X1.
I don't experience any stutters when playing music on this computer.
Thank you for the follow-up. Hope this helps.

Sounds like MIDI keyboard that has Echo On when recording. That can send multiple hits as the dreaded MIDI Loop...

Hi Mac, I'm not using any keyboards at all. I'm developing the music in BB then exporting to a midi file which I play with Sonar which is hooked to a Roland JV-2080. The multiple hits are being developed somewhere in the midi export process. When I play the song in BB and drive the JV-2080 I don't get any hesitations. But when I play the song (without doing any edits what so ever) in Sonar driving the JV-2080, I get hesitations. That's when I went in and looked at the midi file track by track in the staff view function and found the multiple notes. These multiple notes can range anywhere from 3 notes to 33 notes. Obtained the numbers by how many times I had to hit the erase key. :-) I'm going to send the original BB file and the exported midi file to the support folks as Andrew suggested and see what they can find. But thanks for the idea Mac. If you think of anything else please chime in. BTW, i'm in Fredericksburg, VA I see that you are in Chesapeake, VA. So, hello neighbor. Michael

Michael,
I'm not in front of my computer now, but it seems to me that there is also a setting for "note overlap" in BIAB when exporting to MIDI. You might want to look into that. Just a thought. I'll try to remember to look at it this evening when I come home from work.
And BTW, I'm about 40 miles north of you in Manassas, VA, neighbor.

Hi Michael,
I remember same happened to me in versions 2009 and 2009.5. By the problem time (v.2009) I tried unsuccessfully different MIDI export configurations and others MIDI menu options settings until I find out the problem ONLY ocurred if the song was loaded in BIAB and immediately exported to MIDI without be regenerated or played with F4. In my case the solution was just that, I hit F4 for every song just loaded, after doing it then MIDI export...voila, problem resolved, perfect MIDI parts to my DAW. Now, at least here, in v.2010, BIAB song MIDI export is working fine. I hope this help in your case. Good luck .

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
