My wife and I just moved to Mesa AZ, and just so happened to notice that Tommy was playing in Phoenix at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM). Great great concert was opened by a youngster named Chase foster who ain't no slouch either. The theater only seats about 300, so there is not a bac seat in the house. If you are not familiar with Tommy Emmanuel, check him out and if you get a chance to see him in concert, don't miss it. This is for every musician, but especially if you are a guitar player. Mr William Thomas Emmanuel (Tommy) was awarded an AM (Member of the Order of Australia) in the Queen's Birthday Honours list (Hey, Queen's HonoUrs, Queen's English  ) earlier this month. So now it's Tommy Emmanuel AM CGP

Thanks Rob! I really enjoyed the tune. This is one of those occasions I use to inspire me. Seldom do I hear anything refreshing with the 12 bar blues pattern anymore; let alone coming from an acoustic guitar! This one is it. I also watched him do Classical Gas. Never has someone on an acoustic guitar actually excited me to pick one up and play as this guy. I am strictly electric because it allows me the flexibilty to get the types of movements on the fret board as he does. That is usually caused by using lighter gauged strings than on an acoustic. Very dynamic in addition to maximizing his picking techniques he throws in percussion too! The down side of YouTube is that you always have the slightest delays from audio to visual. For me, I want to study how he does what he does and by the time he gets to it the audio is onto something else.  I'll bet you had a great time watching him live. Thanks for bringing him out. I had never heard of him until just now. I also see he was another Chet Atkins disciple! Cheers! RickeG

I've only heard of him within the past few years, and then mostly by accident, finding clips on YouTube. Never once have I seen him on TV or heard him play on the radio. But the stuff on YouTube is quite impressive. He's definitely a talented guitar player... but there's something about his delivery that makes it hard for me to watch him for very long.
(It's probably just jealousy)
