I'm not a pedal steel player, but I believe they are tuned to E9. The new swing tracks just released sound like the Texas-styled C6 tuning.

Dan is correct. Those are the 2 standard tunings with E9 being the "normal" one.

Quite a project, buy a cheap 'pedal steel' (Let my know on that one), and emulate one of the great players PG music line up for these.
Curious how you make out, that's why we buy the RealTracks.
I guess motivation is everything.

Mr Mustafa Behavinalarf does a wonderful book called " How to Master an instrument in a week". No seriously, you can get a few sounds out of a alien instrument once you have gone some way to mastering one. I think anyways..enough for (simple but som, etimes effective) recording purposes anyways..

W'ell i'm quite an experienced guitarist in the art of django so a few slide licks should present no problem for me,however i can't see it bieng an E tuning, probably the c6 i guess, and the pedal steel costs 89 euros from thomman, theres a demo on You tube,it sounds great

Good luck TB . As a guitarist you probably know that a foreign tuning sometimes brings a track to life. I say experiment -no doubt you will

Well having played country music for 45 years it is E9. C6 is much more difficult. Oh and by the way. You're not just playing slide guitar here. You've got a bunch of knee levers and foot pedals to contend with all at once.

Regarding emulating the great players who made the real tracks: I doubt if that's his intent. The real tracks are great for background stuff, but if you need specific notes it is useful to have the same instrument in order to add exactly what you need. I do it all the time with other instruments that are RealTracks. (guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro)
It's especially useful for instruments that aren't your primary instrument... ones you can play, but not well enough to "nail" the take without a lot of editing or retakes. Just let the Real Tracks nail the part.. then go back with the REAL instrument and add the notes needed for melodies, harmonies etc. Quick, easy and blends right into the mix.

Learning a new instrument at any age is always a good thing.
Don't look at only the destination, enjoy the journey.
