This request is probably best answered by one of the Aussie members, but who knows.
In a couple of weeks, my band is playing a gig at my retirement village. The management have asked that we play a bracket of barn dances.
Can anyone suggest some suitable songs for this bracket? All I can remember of barn dances is that they are a repetitive routine over 32 bars played to something like a fast march beat. I also know that the barn dance they they do in Perth is a bit different to the one they do in NSW, but that it is still over 32 bars.

Hi Tony,
When I was was playing in clubs in the 70's, the barndance (or "horror stretch" as we used to call it) was a Saturday night staple. The sort of songs we played were generally old time tunes over 32 bars played segueway. Some examples:
Carolina In The Morning
Lily of Laguna
Walkin' My Baby Back home
Side By Side
When I'm 64
Red Red Robin
Over this side of the Black Stump the barn dance was more of a swing than a march, played around 120 bpm.
