I know not much but for the price worth a try. When I move from Maine to Florida I sold EVERYTHING. Now moniey's tight and I want to get back out playing. Only small places here anyway and I play oldies County & R&R. Lot of slow stuff. Shoot $189 & free ship.

For that kind of money you can't even go renting stuff. I'd say if they sound OK and money's tight: go for them. Make money with them and when you have the need to upgrade...... well, these ones ought to have paid for themselves.

Get back on stage man, that's where we belong. Go for it!

That was my idea. If at some point I need more I'll give these to some kid or even add subs.

They are actually pretty decent. No piezo, those are real dynamic horns with crossover in there.

What are you going to drive them with, John?

I have an Alesis RA 100 & a Behringer xenyx 802. I just need to be careful as this amp is really somewhat underpowered and any clipping will takeout the protectors for the horns.
Mac I was wondering if they were real compression drivers or piezo.
The warranty is 3 years parts AND labor. Not bad if they pay shipping to.

John i have the 10 inch version with a small 60 watt amp setup i bought about 8 years ago, and i have used them inside and outside and they always did a decent job. I played an outside party once with 100 people and they sounded very solid. People commented on the overall sound being good. I am planning on buying a set of those 15s as well and turning the 10s into monitors.

You can not beat them for the price. I took my set over to a friends house the other day for his daugthers graduation party and we used them to play the dance music. No way was it a big club sound but the kids had a great time.

Wow, for the money if they sound decent that's a deal. I've been so in love with JBL's over the years I'm always worried if anything else has that full, smooth JBL sound. But, I also know technology marches on and I've heard some no name (to me) brands that sounded pretty good. Kustom speakers used to be pure crap, so were the old Peavey's, those early Fender PA's, and others but lately I've heard people using new versions of all of those and either my ears are going or they sound really good.
I wouldn't use that RA100, it's just too weak. I use one for my home studio. Just playing my keyboard at a comfortable volume in my bedroom requires that amp be set at about 5 for both channels with the channel strips on my mixer up full. You can find a RA300 for around $150 on Ebay, much better for live work.

The Ra100 is light but for around here at the places I have ,maybe, available it should be OK. I will get something bigger if it works out.
You've first got to know were I live. Extreme western NC in the corner of NC,Tn,& Ga. The buckle of the Bible belt. Murphy just passed alcohol by the drink 2 years ago. Mostly a few small bars with solo guitar players. it's going to be a sell to get in those places.

My brother has a pair of these. He was going to trade them off when he got his larger pa setup but he finds these ideal for smaller venues. I have played and sang through them and they sounded just fine. DennisD

Hi John,
I don't have the KPC 15s' but I do have the Alesis RA 100 and a Behringer xenyx 802. I'm in agreement with you that these should work just fine. However, I have had some noise problems with the 802. Mine seems to be highly susceptible to any sort of wiring problems, light dimmers, interference, etc. and gain staging is very critical. I don't know how much you've used yours already, but if you haven't tried it all that much, you might want to test it in several different places if you can. Good luck on the gig scene. I'm sure you'll find something.

Jim

My 802 has been fine EXCEPT when you turn up the TRIM control and get near the end. All of a sudden it's OH MY GOD. I never get up there it's just I tried it to see. My trims at around 10 oclock. I set all levels at "0" adjust the trim on vocals for what I want and adjust the ALL fader ( it stays were you set it and doesn't get saved like the others) so the band matches. Set the trim for the bass the same and away we go. Very quiet and max head room.I always have the power amp full.

I've been fooling around with them and they sound quite good. Very clear vocals. Some songs will take adjustment but I expected that.
That said If my wallet was bigger I would have gotten some of the 3way Carvin's. I've never been partial to two way boxes with horns. They do project well though. At least they're not 2" horns.

The "problem" with 3-way boxes is that the Midrange are coverage is quite low in amplitude as compared to the highs and lows that it really doesn't make that much difference. Also, depending upon crossover design, the 3-way may well suffer from phase problems, which are quite hard to distinguish for most folks.

I think you'll find that the 2-way system (with PASSIVE crossovers, like this Kustom has) will be more than adequate -- and there will also be less to fuss around about in the long run.

Mac I do agree. Probably why 2 way boxes are more popular at this level. In real high end systems a different story. I've run some nice 3 way with sub EAW systems.

How are you planning on running these, stereo or mono?

Well the mixer & power amp are stereo but the mixes are all mono. Or more correctly stereo with everything panned center.
