I've updated my 2010 ultrapak usb drive with 2010a and added all the new real tracks. Tested it out and works fine and opens up as 2010a - I generally keep this drive as backup. Then I decided to use this updated usb drive to install the latest BIAB on my computer hard drive. I wrongly assumed that it would now install 2010a but instead it installed 2010. I guess that all the original files are there set up to install 2010. Is there any way of ensuring that it is set up to install 2010a rather than 2010?
Hope that makes sense!

Just to be clear, by 2010a, do you mean 2010.5?

You can go to help/about in Biab to see which build is installed.

Sorry yes I meant 2010.5. My USB drive is all properly updated and also has all the latest RealTracks. If I run BIAB from this USB drive then it shows 2010.5 and the latest version. Whilst this updated USB drive loads 2010.5 (303) which is the latest version if I use the USB drive to install BIAB to a computer it will install 2010 not 2010a. I think this is because it was set up to do that in the first place and something in the installation files on the usb would need to be changed to install 2010.5 instead.
It's not a major issue but wondered if it was easy to sort.

Well, you could go to the Update Page and download and install the latest Update release to 2010.5 - and also the RealTracks Updates there.
That should bring it up to date, but really, I think that the USB drive as shipped should have installed 2010.5 if that's what you bought, you may want to contact PGMusic Sales directly on that subject first.

I read this differently. This is something I've been curious about. Sounds to me that he took his 2010 USB-drive (not 2010.5) and applied the updates he downloaded (or received on DVD) to the 2010 USB-drive. That updated the files on the USB drive and BIAB ran correctly from the USB drive as 2010.5. However, he then went to use that USB drive to install 2010.5 to his computer's internal hard drive, but it installed 2010, not 2010.5. Sounds like when you do an update to an older version drive, the update doesn't include an new installer exe for the newer version. At least that's what his question sounded like to me.

Hi John - yes that's exactly the correct view of my question. Surely there should be some way around this? Tony

Since you've already updated your USB drive with the 2010.5 files, I would run the installer (even though it's just the 2010 installer) to make sure the fonts, DX effects, and possibly the ForteWT SoftSynth gets installed. Then, you should be able to just copy the USB-Hard Drive BB folder to wherever you want it on your C: drive. You can leave the RealTracks and RealDrums on the USB (if you use that for the RealTracks/Drums source), but make sure the BB folder on the C: drive has a Drums and RealTracks folder present (of course, if you want them on your C: drive, just copy the whole shebang). There are a few files in the Drums and RealTracks folder (I think Matt Finley knows exactly which these are) that should be copied over as well, but not all the sub-folders unless (again) you plan to run everything off your C: drive.
BIAB doesn't have to be installed, per se. Just enough to get fonts, effects and softsynth installed. After that, you can copy the files and it will work. Of course, once you launch BIAB, you'll have to tell it where your RealTracks and Drums are.
I hope that made some sense.

Thanks John, I was hoping I could change the installer so that it would install 2005.5. Anyway no problems.

The Update only applies to the bbw.exe file, not to the Installer.
But if you keep the Update Installer on the same hard drive, all you need do is install the older version first and then run the Updater right from that drive.
