I have a problem with this sound module when using repeats, IE a repeat with two endings. When BIAB gets to the first ending, the Ketron sound module continues to play the last chord of the first ending through the 2nd chorus and 2nd ending. Then it properly plays the music through the end of the song provided there are no other repeats. Any ideas?
My only work around is not to use repeats which is a drag. BTW - I am using BIAB 2008.5 build 265.
Thanks

I have a Ketron SD2 and have never had this problem. Hoping that someone else will chime in here.

Hi Mark, I'm just guessing at a few things, and as Stan noted above, I'm hoping someone else will chime in here.
You might try "unfolding" your song to see if you can spot anything.
It sounds like that last chord is getting stuck some way, what happens if you hit the 'panic' button?
I'm thinking this almost has to be something with BIAB, as the SD2 "just works" as every one that has used it can attest too.
Later, Jim
I'd be completely happy if I had just one more guitar.

There must be something else going on. The Ketron (or any sound source for that matter) only plays what BIAB sends it. Sounds like maybe there's a "note off" command missing. If it's a bug, I doubt PGMusic is going to patch 2008, since 2010 is out now, but I would send them a note describing the problem.

I was thinking just what John said, but I still consider myself a rookie so I wasn't sure. There's no software in the SD2 that can be changed so the problem must be with something in the song. I think that sometimes there are little glitches that don't belong that defy explanation. You could try deleting the offending bars and re-entering them? If I'm not certain that I'll be able to remember if I delete stuff, I use a little freebie screen capture pgm that saves a pic of the screen as a .jpg. FWIW

Hi Mark,
I was using the SD2 way back when 2008.5 was the thing to have, and while I did have another problem, which was finally fixed in a later version of BiaB (that problem would happen with ANY hardware synth used, not just the SD2) I never noticed the problem you report.
*Try the Return to Factory Settings and use the 2nd button to reset soundcard and MIDI options.
* Try rebooting the computer
*Try hitting New in BiaB and quickly lay out another simple tune with the two endings and see if the problem replicates. It might be that the one songfile is corrupted.
I'm not trying to say this is not a bug, I just don't know and don't recall ever experiencing that one myself. Maybe one or more of the above will help out.

The problem is only with multi ending repeats. When it gets to the 2nd ending, everything works fine agan through the end of the song. The SD2 works fine on regular repeats. Creating a new song &/or rebooting does not fix the problem. I guess I will continue to cut & paste to get around multi ending repeats.
I gave a quick look at upgrading but I mostly use BIAB to create quick backing tracks to practice over jazz standards (piano, bass, drums). I can get by with the styles I have and real tracks aren't that important for this application.
Any compelling reason to buy the upgrade in this situation?
I'm curious what others think of the SD2 soundwise. Some instruments sound good but I instruments like guitar are pretty cheesy.
Is there something better now at a reasonable price that doesn't suck up a lot of resources for home recording?
Thanks,
MB

Hi, Mark -
Have you tried using a different sound source other than the SD2? That would eliminate the sound source as the problem, which I don't think it should be. Try using either the Microsoft WaveTable or the Forte WaveTable or something similar and see if you have the same problem.

Right, this problem doesn't have anything to do with the Ketron SD2. This is because when you created the1st/2nd ending, you didn't check the "Generate new bars" checkbox in the Repeats and Endings dialog. So Band-in-a-Box didn't enter any chords into the repeated bars. You can see this by unchecking the Fakesheet box on the main screen.

Expert - You are correct. I could see there were no chords in the repeat when I unchecked the fakebook. I also was creating the repeat before entering chords which just repeated the same chord over & over. So, I have it working correctly now.
Thanks!
