One particular company has a 128 GB USB flash drive priced at $45 (and it's just the standard sized flash drive). I noticed that the total space occupied by software for the Everything Pak on the PGMusic HD is 104 GB. So if one wanted to miniaturize further at a $45 cost by copying the Everything Pak to this flash drive, can anyone think of any "negatives" about going down this path (and, of course, I realize I could copy the PG HD to my computer HD at no additional cost, but I prefer the portability offered by an external drive)?

Thanks for any comments/suggestions in advance,
cchallum

It might not be fast enough for audio work such as recording a track and playing it back.

But the only sure way to know what it can do is to buy one and try it out.

Sounds like a neat idea, keep us posted if you go that route.

How about a link to this item? I have never seen a thumb sized USB flash drive of this capacity.

Thanks

Thanks, Mac.....I always greatly appreciate your inputs. Now I'll see if I can drop a hint to my wife to buy the flash drive for my birthday (cough, cough) and then give this thingy a try.

Have a great weekend,

Hummm....just wondering.....has anyone purchased anything from that site before? Everywhere else I've checked, the price is about 6 to 8 times more than $45!

This same Kinston 128G Drive is available at NewEgg for only $350.00.
And they use a gmail account for email.

I personally have had issues with that brand, and I know others that have too.
Not trying to talk you out of it but you asked if anyone had reservations.

My experience-
FAT 32 with no ability to reformat.
Windows7 will recognize it but dump it (even mid transfer) repeatedly. And often when I first put it in Win7 wants to 'Fix' it.
XP works fine with it, but I have gotten a couple errors in XP also, just data errors that may have been caused by Win7 trying to 'fix' it, not sure..

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I did and received it less than 1 week ago. After it failed within 10 minutes, I began to test it with h2testw. I ran 3 seperate tests which took about 3 days to complete (this drive I received writes and reads below the standard set by Kingston for the DT-200 128 GB). All 3 tests were basically identical in one area: 3.9 GB OK .... 124.1 GB lost or corrupted data ... I have a 4 GB USB drive. The whois domain report for hkdigitalhot.com is also very interesting .. if you keep researching! Since I puchased it, the domain seems to have changed hands 6 additional times.

Seems a common ripoff lately.. package 4 GB as 128 and resell..

Is there any means or methods (that someone knows about) in which "policing the Web" is effectively done nowadays....i.e., other than just "word of mouth"? If it had not been for the above exchange in this thread, I might have "gone for this" and can see how others might easily do the same!!

SiteAdvisor is one way

May be worth looking at getting because it inserts warnings beside sites on Google.
Or just paste the site name into siteadvisor.com search.
Scroll down and check for comments before accepting the yay/nay logo at top.

To find what I put above I simply looked at the comments/reviews for the product ..
