Hey All

Been quite some time since I left a post on here, cuase there's been no problems and nothing but fun. However now I seem to have found a song that BIAB just won't deal with and I have changed it, deleted it, started over enough times to start thinking that BIAB is just anti Tim Mcgraw, since that is who the song is by. Anyway this is just a preliminary question without providing a lot of details, in case this is a known thing and somebody has a simple what to look for and fix.

If not I will come back and provide details and such.

Thanks for the replies and I realise I did not leave enough info

I have tried returning to factory settings.

With this song, and only this song. While the song is playing, somewhere around mid tune all instruments will disapear except the drums (every time). As soon as this happens, the next button I push (any button), BIAB will lock up and I will have no choice but to restart, task manager will not shut it down. Another currious thing that takes place with only this song, if I shut BIAB down with this song loaded, when I fire it back up, it does not come back with this song loaded but rather goes to an empty screen with an old midi style loaded. With all other tunes, BIAB would come back loaded with the previously played song, but not with this one.

Thanks folks

Are you asking if BIAB is programmed to not play Tim McGraw tunes?? Have you tried Kenny Chesney to see if it is just a new Country thing?

If you like you can send me the file and I could try on my version of BIAB which I know loves these country singers. Or have you tried to restore BIAB to factory settings?

Try - return to factory settings and see if that clears it up. You will need to reset your midi driver, I think?

Do you see red in any of the bars indicating that some change (perhaps a midi command) has been embedded? If so position the cursor over that bar and press F5 and see if you can deal with it.

Or search around in the offending bars using F5.

Sounds like a case of a corrupted songfile.

Only recourse for that is to hit New and re-enter the entire song again.

Adamas - Are you using RealTracks and RealDrums for this song? Perhaps selecting a particular instrument that you normally don't use that is causing a problem? I'm also wondering about your operating system and what permissions you have for wherever it is you have the song saved. It doesn't make a lot of sense to have so much trouble with only one song. And are you current on the patches for your version on BIAB?
Good luck.

I've got a similar problem with the Anne Murray tune, Snowbird. At the end of that tune, the screen goes white and I have to reboot. All's well, then. I've got the latest version and patches. Like Mac said, must be a corrupted file. I've just been too lazy to re-work it at this point.

An update

I have no idea if this will help anyone, I am a by the ear type musician and am very poor at understanding the theory behind it all. Anyway, I junked it a third time and started all over, only this time I put some work into getting the key right. This is something that I often miss, BIAB defaults to the key of C all the time and does not seem to cause issues when the key is wrong. I am guessing and could be out to lunch, but the right key was Bm and after getting this right, no problem, never happened again.

Probably something that would never happen to a musician that actually understands the language.

Anyway all is good again and like always, the help on here is so greatly appreciated.

Thanks to you all who provided answers.

You should always know the key and set Band in a Box to the right key from the very start.....
