I have been using Biab a while now. Apart from tapping in a chord sequence and choosing a real track the rest of the program is still a mystery, even though I hasve been using DAWs for around twenty years. I have followed your tutorials on utube.
A guided tour of the interface would be a good idea, button by button with commentary as appropriate on how these things can be used and modified - i.e. melodist, soloist Audio harmonist.
Using BIAB with a sequencer such as Cubase, rendering, importing is another topic that could be covered, something which covers different approaches.
Oh another thing, I am totally confused as to why we should have two appls real and BIAB. What are the things that each can and cant do? I never know what one is called for and am apprehensive about learning a new application (real Band) onloy to find that even though it gives me extra functionality, it also takes away functionality I use in BIAB. Somew explanation of the difrences - maybe by means of a chart would be good.

I'd like to see something showing adding vocals in RealBand - especially if there were a "demo" song associated with it: - Although BiaB is used by lots of folk for vocals, I don't know any place (other than the forum) that people can hear examples of it. It would be cool to be able to point folk to an "official" demo that shows off BiaB in the context of a vocal song.
- Unlike some of the stuff posted in the forum, people watching wouldn't have to wonder how much of the sound was BiaB and how much was from somewhere else.
- I'm pretty happy with my DAW and too lazy to learn anything new that I don't have to. If I can see that RealBand offers some cool stuff, I'd be motivated to look into it (and be able to say nice things about it when I post on other boards).
So it would be partly advertisement, and partly motivational. Show me how awesome RealBand it is!

If posting a how to of music, say take a folk music piece, and you intend to show off parts, make it short enough to keep interest, and throw in a 'tutorial' as one might add maple syrup to ice cream.
I can see some great potential for showing RealTracks, if your studio guys would get together and play, you know, Miles, Oliver, and Terry for example, then fade them out and the program in...saying, you can't always have them back you up in person BUT...as you swirl them in an ever smaller circle into a DVD that drops into the 'Box' and on go the stamps...right to Aus....you get the picture. Then show how you take and make a backing track....you might find something you could pay minimum royalties for, I'm sure some jazz piece wouldn't be too much to turn into a commercial. With that link on your advertising it could get you great mileage.
Sounds like a great concept.
By the way, the Facebook thing has been quiet for quite a while right? Maybe order 2010.5 for download now and get the next update..FREE! Some here might buy early and you could know how many to produce for sure...?

My first suggestion would be to do a video on the Sound of BIAB. This would be a video version of "Dare to Compare".
One of the things that some potential purchasers have never understood is that BIAB has no MIDI sounds of its own, and the quality of what you hear depends entirely on what soft synth or hardware module you use. I know some musicians who never realized what the program was because of this. Perhaps play a few demos, using different sound sources on songs from a few genres. Include the dreaded Microsoft MIDI Mapper for comparison.
And of course, also play the same songs with Real Tracks.

1. A tutorial on how to find the tutorials (already done) and what they contain.
2. A tutorial on tempos and tempo changes. Also existing styles with different tempos-- Examples.
3. Maybe some shorter tutorials to learn specific features such as what can be done in Bar Change, etc.. and/or maybe some simpler tutorials for newbie/beginners. I believe that there's a much greater market potential out there for PG Music if folks could get a basic start and sort of build upon it. I'm thinking of the differences between MS Office and MS Works as an example. I'm not suggesting that the existing programs be changed, just explained more simply for some of us dummies. I have BIAB For Bozos. It starts off with a lot of info on audio. It's all great stuff, but I found out later that there are more simple tutorials out there that show to how make a song from scratch, etc.. In other words, lots of stuff is currently available---if you know how or where to find it. Okay, I'm rambling too much--maybe just think more user friendly?

Separate into categories defined by User wants.
1) Some see BiaB only as a means to the recording/production end.
2) Others see BiaB as a live auto-accompaniment software.
3) Still others view the program as a practice aid.
*Some scant few of us use the program in all of the above ways.
*Others get turned of by genre -- they seem to have difficulty even watching a tutorial that may show them how to achieve their goal if the tutorial happens to use a genre that is outside of their favorite. Translating from a certain genre to the one that they like apparently doesn't get traction with them.
*The simplest of short "How to's" may be the best approach.
Example: How to set up the MIDI/Audio selection.
How to load and play a standard MIDI file.
How to use the MIDIfile Style Creation Wizard to make a style.
etc.
Singular, "bite-sized" chunks.

Good stuff Matt and Shas. We horn blowers can sure vibrate a column of hot air. As my mentor says, it's nothing to do with air going thru, and all in the vibrating column.

A YouTube-Channel would be fine, Peter!
I think, all you can explain using text and screenshots should be in the manual. It's a great help to have the manual allways beside the keyboard or on screen as pdf.
All issues, you could understand better when hearing the results of operations, should be explained in short video lessons.
A YouTube channel should be a supplement to the manual, not a replacement.

That sums up where I am with BIAB as well. Enter the chords, choose the style and play.
Would like to find out more but there's so little time after work & family. YouTube tutorials would be a good way forward.

visual for me is better than the written word.but for some the written word is better than visual.Those who have no problem with book tutorials will have no problem with visual ones.But for someone like me who cant handle sheets of technical knowledge youtube will be a godsend and I guess there are thousands like me.Cheers Frankie

I would suggest some "what it's good for" short videos such as:
1. Showing how a Vocalist sits down with BnB and sings along to various different types of music (folk, jazz, blues, rock etc.) different ages, genders and so on. Show how live accompaniment works and how the key is adjusted to fit the singers vocal range, as well as how easy it is to record it all with just a microphone.
2. Show various solo instrumentalists (trumpet, violin, saxophone, guitar etc.)
using BnB to practice as well as to record great sounding music.
3. Show a composer uses BnB to rapidly write music, get instant accompaniment and then play or type in the melody in order to get a super fast performance of their composition.
4. Show how anyone interested in how the different components in a piece
of music work together can study the contribution of each "instrument" by muting it all and then adding in each instrument one by one.

Hi Peter,
Show how users can easily create different sounds/feels by changing f.ex. one or two instruments in a particular style.
This would show that users are not limited to one or many built in styles but can easily improvise.
