I have edited and created 50 MIDI files using Real Band to play on my Roland June Stage keyboard.
The issue is that many of the files do not play with the selected instruments unless I run this one song first. It has a SYSEX event in it. After I play this one song the rest of the songs seem to work fine.
I tried copying the event data to another song, but I am not sure whether to send or receive the hex code and if I am to send it I cannot tell which device type to select as Real band only displays the hex code for existing events and the Roland Juno stage is not listed in the devices.

I'll bet that the Sysex is a "GM mode On" message.

Open the event list for the track with the sysex.
Copy the sysex message.
Then you can paste it into notepad and save it, so you can paste it into any song. (Use notepad or another simple text editor)
Paste the sysex text in the Event list window using 'Insert - Sysex' and paste it in at the beginning of the song.
You don't have to use send or request, just insert it and hit OK and then it will be broadcast every time the song plays from the beginning.
PTPA added this feature back around ver 5.
As Mac said it is likely a GM On message and can be sent in many ways.
It probably looks like a hexadecimal number - F0 7E 7F 09 01 F7 (GM Mode On)
or F0 41 10 42 12 40 00 7F 00 41 F7 (GS Mode On)

Hi Rob,
Of course, it's best to have this set up in your midi files as mentioned above, but in a crunch you
can also turn GM mode on and off manually on your Stage. I think it's in the system menu. I don't have my Stage hooked up at the moment but if you have more problems just post back and I'll try to chase it down for you.
