Hi All, I am wondering due to PG's newly developed website and promotion of band in a box if indeed we will get a new version this Christmas as I guess many people will be buying 2010.5 at the moment. Hopefully at least some new additional RealTracks to add to my Christmas box. The new site is great by the way, maybe even a new bib interface is on the way although after so many years of using our exsisting one that works fine for me, maybe we will get a choice and save the learning curve of a new one. Regards. Jeff.

Great question. You also got to wonder what more can they do to entice one to buy. I personally do not get all that hopped up over the real tracks. I really feel MIDI gives me much more control but that's me. I guess I need to play with the RT's more and maybe then I'll fall in love with it. I'm sorry but what I really want is multiple vst support in biab. Can you imagine the power of having your best instruments on each track each and every time without having to bounce it all around from one program to another? But hey, thats just me. I'll no doubt get the upgrade when it comes out. I seem to every year so am waiting with great anticipation.

I guess we all work to our goal in different ways utilising the tools we have. I can see that more flexability and support for midi would be great too for many. I do think the sky is the limit in development though, I can think of many ways that I would proceed with additional content and features but I imagine PG have to aim for a wider more general market and also keep developement cost to a minimum. They have done a brilliant job so far. I started out with 3.1 as well, magic for the time. These days I generally use bib to create and develop my own song backings and I find the quality and flexability of the realtracks are fantastic for that but I generally try and play my keyboard/synth rather than using midi and I record using Sonar/Guitar Tracks for my guitars and vocals. Which all works together for me and I have quite a good work flow process going now. Bib is such a great virsitile tool I for one would be lost without it now. Jeff

PG Music should add a good working SoftSynth. With 64bit being the new norm and VSC not working on it, BIAB doesn't include a decent sound source. Offering a Synth with a 30day trial then buy, is not a solution. If you spend that much money for the everything Package, it doesn't seem like it has everything to me. Wayne,

I think if they can find a company that already has a synth that works well in 64-bit and also sounds great - and if said company is willing to make a suitable licensing deal, they will do so.

Once again, don't they still include Coyote Wavetable, which is supposed to work with 64 bit, as well as 32?
Did they stop including that? Or did you not notice that?

The Free Coyote Wavetable is not the same thing as the $40 Coyote sampler that he is refering to. It uses your internal sounds as a DXI so it can be rendered. The sounds are the same as your internal sound. Brian

A software synth is still an instrument. There are not a lot them around. In fact I think in reality a complete GM/GS synth is very old technology, and I see a few keyboards that are coming out with new sounds, but the basic GM synth built into it is not really all that great despite the price.
Kind of like buying a music book and hoping for a Yamaha Grand to come on the back page, you have to move furniture but geez Louise...
It seems, like it or not, that the direction is RealInstruments. Great advances have been made, and if we got to point b so far, imaging what a few years of better development might bring.
I use the Coyote 64 bit thing to fast render all realtracks songs. The way the software is built it needs that instrument for some reason.
I suggest if anyone is really looking for a 64 bit solution, try the TTS-1, which I think is available as part of a bundle here under software...
On the other hand, I have 2 very nice sounding synths in a JV1010 and a Ketron that I almost never use anymore. Before I actually hand the JV1010 to my kid I'm trying it and the Ketron with my EWI wind controller. I thought that I'd be able to use the EWI instead of a horn during radiation treatments to my neck. The oncologist told me that the actual healing process can take up to 18 months for deep burns the radiation did, and I have too much jaw pain many days to be able to play long stretches, but it's coming.
As to midi solutions, I don't think Notes Norton has a Ketron, he's blowing too much money on guitars, but he's sort of the resident guru, keeping closets full of them so he can render tracks one by one, knowing that a Selmar gold tenor sax with a bent bell from 1969 that was left in the sun sounds just like the patch on the Borgriffer9000 synth that was made by a North Korean factory for 10 minutes, or something....like....that.
Weird or what?
