I am missing all my RealStyles. Hitting "Find New Styles" and "Rebuild" does not do it. Any thoughts?

Where do you store your realtracks files?

If, for example, you installed only the BB program to the C drive, preferring to save space and use the USB drive for the Realtracks storage (which involves use of the Realtracks preferences control panel) and don't have that USB drive connected as the same drive, then the program can't find them.

I store the whole shooting match on a USB 2 drive Q:\

Everything in in Q:\BBW so RealTracks are in Q:\BBW\RealTracks\

I tried copying an old BBQ.LST file, and now I lost all the RealTracks from my Styles picker. After the initial install, it only showed the new ones I installed w/ 2011.

I had a similar problem today. In my situation simply reinstalling 2011 made everything work after about an hour frustration. Make certain your preferences point to the correct track folders and then rebuild the styles. Good luck!

There is a prefs tab to tell the program WHERE in the World you put waldo, or in this case, the RealTracks. If it's wrong change it and presto it works. Check Opts Prefs.

As the wife says to me, you are doing it wrong. But I don't know what I'm doing it wrong, but at any given time it's something. And I don't need that. Nor do WE. And we are NOT going there. I put something in the shopping cart and 20 minutes later say, "I thought I got white beans".

"I put them back you don't need them."

Oh, and who makes the meals??? ME. MOI.

I wait and ask her about some meal and she suggests beans...but she FORGETS she put the 99 cent package back....just don't mention it.....

Harmony and how to achieve it is more than 3rds. Hey I should patent that saying...

I just reinstalled BIAB 2011. I am back where the only RealTracks recognized are the ones that are new with 2011...

Are you installing BiaB to the external drive?

Sounds like the 2011 install is going to a new location, instead of an existing one (with the existing realtracks). Install 2011 to the external drive in the X:\BB folder. (X being external dive letter) This will make it include all the existing realtracks during install..

During the install check the 'Browse' button to make sure the drive letter is correct.
Also, during previous installs it asked for the BB\Realtracks folder location. With 2011 you only need the BB location. This may be something to check.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

After further checking I have the exact same problem. 2011 works with the existing tracks but none of the new. Would love to try out the new tracks

I moved all the old RealTracks to the new location and RENAMES my old\BB folder to \oldbb just in case the was some .ini file that referenced it.

If I delete the bbw.lst file altogether, BIAB balks.

P.S. Telling someone they are "dong it it wrong" without offering a way to "do it right" is insulting on top of being unhelpful.

If I knew what you were doing wrong I'd tell you. Sigh. This is the USERS forum. About 1/1000th of the posts are by the official support office at PG music.

Every once in a while someone tries to get help here and we don't understand the process, or what is wrong. I bet there is hundreds of years of experience with the software here, but we didn't write the code. So we try to help. Sometimes it doesn't work.

Live Help is good, bearing in mind it is Pacific Time.
support@pgmusic.com works well, they are busy at the moment but they do respond.
Toll free support is an option.

Lots of people seem to forget after they download the program and the RealTracks that they have to run each file to install them. You don't just download them and have them install. Beyond that in order to provide any level of support here the basic info, probably best put in the signature line needs,
Operating System and Service Pak.
Band in a Box Version
An assurance that NO Virus software is running at the time of the install.
Computer make and specs.
and often if the problem involves other devices a list of those.

The statement "I can't get x to work" is virtually impossible to give a help on, unless you are asking something basic.

I am a Systems Engineer whose experience with software goes back to CP/M (pre-DOS)and was a programmer for many years, so I have enough experience to have eliminated the obvious. I have used BIAB since version 1 for DOS.

It seems I am not the only one experiencing this issue. I will contact support, but I often find many issues answered and resolved her by peers who have already experienced and remediated the same issues.

I would prefer, that if someone on the forum not know an answer that they simply decline to respond rather than insult me with sarcastic comments.

I have upgraded multiple times, and have never needed to re-install all my RealTracks from scratch in order for them to show up in BBW.LST.

I don't think my post was simply "I can't get x to work." I clearly explained what I attempted to do, what directories various files lived in, etc.

Jan, from reading a few other threads that mention a similar problem, I agree with you that there may be an issue here. In another post, someone said they reinstalled BIAB and the problem was fixed. Now, I'm not saying that's the answer, but perhaps it is. When you find it, please post the solution.

Not sure if you retained the first .LST file or not, but it appears someting must have gone wrong at installation.

I would recommend trying to re-install again, right overtop of what you have already. No need to manually delete anything. But there may be a need to first peruse that BB folder and find out manually if all your previous RealTracks are stored in the Realtracks folder in the BB folder. If they aren't, that could be the problem.

The reinstall *should* give you another shot at directing the program installation plus the Realtracks storage and RealDrums storage locations.

If that fails, I'd take the problem directly to pgmusic support, either via the Live Chat, the tollfree telephone line or email, whichever is best suited to your situation. It is a new release and all the bugs may not be worked out as yet. If the past is any indicator, and it is, we will all have to keep our eyes peeled on the BIAB UPDATES page for the next few months as Patch Updates to fix various issues get released. Might seem like a pain, but IME it is far less painful than suffering along with a bug that may have already been squashed.

Do not delete as " *.ini " or you will run the risk of losing other files with that suffix that you really need.

There hasn't been a need to delete the one file that does get incorporated into the Return to Factory Settings since the advent of that button under the Options menu inside BiaB.

If, after a reinstall of the program, this condition persists, I might then try going under the Options -> Return to Factory Settings and see if having BiaB automatically restore that one critical file to the default settings might work or not. Likely this particular OP would have to revisit the Realtracks and Realdrums Control Panels and redirect them to where they are stored on their outrigger drive as well.

I tried re-installng 2011 from scratch with the same results. Only the new RealTracks are recognizing. I am in the process of re-installing my 2010.5 "Everything Pack" and will (assuming that is clean) upgrade it to 2011 and see what happens.

When I run "What do I have?" it recognized all my previously acquire RealTracks. It is the Style Picker that seems to have the issue. I will post after the process is complete. Thanks.

I used the extension ".ini" in the generic form. I meant any configuration files which may have been corrupted. I do not know the process BIAB uses to re-build the styles list.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
