Hi Could someone try this to check if it is a problem in Band-in-a-Box 2011 or a problem with my system. I am getting a click sound with some cells. This only happens after I do the following.
Open an Mp3 file with the ACW.
Set markers right on the beats.
Send to Biab.
Make a tempo map.
Choose style that fits (or near as) Has to be a RealTrack style.
Mute Audio.
Play song and listen to see if you hear a click on the cells that have a red square on them (at this point everything is OK with my system.)
Stop song and kill (erase) Audio.
Choose any instrument i.e.Strings and generate a RealTrack (any other than the one already there will do)
Play song again and listen to see if you hear a click on the cells with a red square. My system does!!
If you hear a click then there is a problem with Band-in-a-Box 2011.
If not it must be my system and thank you for trying. Just let me know please.
Best regards Michee
P.S. I have done a return to factory setting but no joy.

Hi Michee,
I have several projects where I've used the ACW, including one I worked on today. The one I worked on today is a long slow blues, about 202 measures and the tempo map has red squares in at least 80 percent of the measures. Over all beat is 99 but it varies from 97 to 102. I worked on it a couple of hours today doing everything you mentioned above with no problems and no clicks. I also opened one of my old projects and played around with it a little. Everything seems to be fine here. I'm using 2011 with XP SP3 3meg. Hope this helps.
Jim
I'd be completely happy if I had just one more guitar.

Hi Jim, Thank you so much for checking this out for me. I seem to have a problem with my system so I will try a reinstall just to see if that helps. Best regards Michee P.S. In case your wondering, I am 8 hours ahead of PG Music that is why the reply is slow (had to go to Bed ) Best regards Michee

Hi Andrew,
like Michee, I get the click sound in BIAb 2011 when playing songs with a ACW tempo map. I have several songs created with BIAB 2010.5 using the ACW. There is a click sound on nearly all bars with red squares and a tempo variation.
My workaround: clicking "reset all bars" in the F5 barsetting dialog and the click sound disappears - but also the tempo variations. So this is not a real solution.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for that.
I have done the full "Return to Factory Settings" - no difference, still happens.
I have downloaded the whole shooting match again and reinstalled - no difference, still happens.
Best regards Michee

Drivers: Audio: M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 Asio-Driver. Midi: ForteDXI Both worked well with BIAB 2010.5.

Thanks Knowing it's ASIO may help them narrow it down. Wonder if Michee is ASIO also.

If it is ASIO drivers, might be worthwhile to experiment with the ASIO buffer settings.
Try raising that setting one increment and test again.
Might have to raise it two increments, but even if you have to put it way up high, if that stops the problem, you should report that.
I'd also select MME drivers as a test just to see if it happens with those on the same song as well and of course would report those results either way.

Hi Mac,
played with my audio settings this night. Changing ASIO Buffer or selecting MME doesn't solve the problem. I don't think it's an audio driver issue.

Hi Rharv,
Sorry for the delay but the time difference is a pest...
I am using the Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio and Midi interface. Using ASIO with the Cakewalk TTS-1 Dxi
Tried reverting to MME with no joy. Best regards Michee

Thanks a lot! Build 313 BETA fix solved the problem. No more click sounds on all bars with red squares and a tempo variation. Could have been a now fixed ASIO bug in BIAB 2011.

Hi The tempo change clicking issue was different than the asio issues. Beta 313 attempts a general cleanup of asio playback. I hope it fixes most issues. If you still have issues please let me know the details (symptoms, sound card, OS, type of computer, etc). One thing that MAY affect some folks. I don't know if this will happen, but it is possible-- Because the new higher-quality Elastique tempo stretching uses more CPU, some people may need to use ASIO buffers a little bigger than they previously could get away with, if they like setting buffers "as low as they will go". I tested several ASIO drivers and sound cards on the same Windows 7 quad-core computer. Some drivers and sound cards just seem a little more efficient than others. On some drivers buffers as low as 2 ms played fine, but on others I needed to use 5 ms buffers. On slower computers the buffers might need to be bigger than that. Some (especially older) ASIO drivers are/were very temperamental. If an old ASIO driver was temperamental in the past, then it might still be temperamental! I haven't used ASIO much since I got the Windows 7 64 bit computer. It was surprising how smooth some of the newer drivers run on the 64 bit system. The newest version of ASIO4ALL worked great. The Creative ASIO driver for Creative XFi card seemed very well-behaved. The driver for the Focusrite Saffire is very pleasing (as is the little Saffire audio interface box). Maybe there are still some manufacturers newer drivers out there that are still temperamental, but the above seem very good quality as best I could tell.
