I have two USB devices, a single A/D converter, and a single D/A converter. Using ASIO4All to try to get them to work in Real Band.

I have been able to get them to work, sorta, in Pro Tools with ASIO4ALL, but unable to get them to work in Real Band. Obviously, I can't get them BOTH to work at the same time with MME, either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Gary

Usually the issue with this sort of stuff is that both devices have separate timing clocks, and they will not work together. This is even true with USB mikes, they cause all kind of issues that throw a monkey wrench in the mix. I would really suggest selling the two devices and getting one device that does both input and output on the same drivers and timing clock.

Rob,
In this case, selling is not an option. Since it did function in Pro Tools, I'm not sure if it's a timing issue. I guess I need to go back and play with ASIO4ALL some more.

They should work fine in RB with WDM. I never had much luck with ASIO4all. Do these not have there own ASIO drivers? Do you need ASIO Gary? Why?
What are the 2 devices? I'll read up and see what I can find.

As you said Gary they Sorta worked. With two devices like that the timing issue can come and go. It will work a while and then not. Some host handle it better and others do not. I have never had success with ASIO4All. For one ASIO4All is just WDM wrapped to act like an ASIO driver. If you are wrapping it why not use it unwrapped?

Thanks guys for all your responses. I'm sorry I can't be more specific in my answers. The devices are a stand alone A/D converter and a stand alone D/A converter. Both have USB capability, as well as S/PDIF and AES/EBU, and optical on the D/A.

The experiment was to utilize them on USB alone. They will work fine individually with MME/WDM drivers, but will not work in unison unless you are running an ASIO driver.

Pro Tools 9 has been released, and will now run on non-Avid hardware, but do not include ASIO drivers. Many people are running ASIO4ALL, but I've had all sorts of issues with it for Pro Tools, Sonar LE and Real Band.

If WDM won't work, ASIO4ALL, being basically a "wrapper" to WDM, well, you get the picture.

Remember this thread from the Off Topic forum?

In which "Lex" had written REAL ASIO DRIVERS that purportedly run as native?

If Lex and his drivers are still around, might be worth the shot.

Mac,
Since they are outboard devices via USB, I don't see how Lex's drivers would work with them. They certainly aren't AC'97.

Still, I may look into it.

Lex's drivers are for old AC97 cards that didn't have ASIO. They are VERY good BTW. I use them in my lappy.

John,
Since the items I'm testing are USB externals, then these drivers are most likely useless to me.

Gary,
That's what I was saying.
Those 2 units should work.My lappy has 1 built in card, one PCMCIA Card with KX drivers and one USB card. They all work in any configuration I want. I assume as you didn't mention brand that they are something proprietary you are working on?
