I just got BIAB 2011. Somewhere, probably in one of the demo videos, I think I heard something about it being easy to get vocals into BIAB - did that mean recording the vocal into BIAB. To do so you would of course have to be able to hear the tracks already created to 'sing along' with. I can certainly, and just did, take the BIAB song and record it into a stand alone multitrack unit, and add the vocal there. But it would be nice to do the song entirely within the computer.

Thanks

You do get an audio track in BiaB to use however you like.
Can you hook a mic to the computer somehow?

1.Go to Audio | Record Audio

2.In the 'Record Audio' dialog, ...

Thanks for that - I knew you could record audio (from a mic in this case), but didn't realize you could record while playing back, which is just what you need to record a vocal (or whatever) track.

I have noticed that the playback audio adjustment for adding reverb does not appear to work, tho the tone and volume levels do. The reverb does not add reverb even when set to 127 (and master reverb set that way too). I'll put the reverb in when recording I guess using my vocal processer.

Thanks again

Reverb for the one Audio track is done using DX Reverb plugin on that track.

Thanks for that - it looks like it is turned off by default in BIAB - I will give it a try.

Yup, that works - thanks. So the reverb control in the audio playback is for what? Even with the DX turned on, that control doesn't seem to affect reverb level.

I don't know, but it is likely just there because it is needed for all the other tracks...

Upon playback, the recorded audio track lags the BIAB Realtracks, by what I would estimate as at least 250 milliseconds. I have tried fiddling with the latency and the offset settings, which don't seem to have any affect. Are there controls to adjust the 'start point' of a recorded audio track relative to Realtracks (not MIDI). And is this done at playback time or when recording the audio? None of my adjustments seem to affect this issue. The recorded audio was done very carefully for testing this issue with a dry mike making sure to hit the vocals right on the beat. But, again, in playback, the vocal always lags.

Thanks

Well, something must be happening with the settings somewhere.

Might be the choice for the MIDI synth, or it might be the choice for Audio drivers and how they are handled by those settings. With MME chosen, you would be using Windows Sound Drivers as available, most likely WDM. There is a "get from soundcard" routine for those drivers that *should* automatically set things up for most soundcards. If using ASIO drivers, which might be the better choice if available, it should work without all that.

BiaB is supposed to simply Record your mic or other audio and play it back in sync with the song, no need for track shifting after the fact and all that jazz -- provided things are set up to work with your OS and sound devices.

Need to know more info from you in order to tell you more specific things.

*What OS?

*What is the soundcard?

*Which Audio driver type are you attempting to use?

*What do you have selected for the MIDI device in the BiaB MIDI/Audio setup menu?
(What is available in the RH pane for selection plus what is currently highlighted and do you have "Use DXi" checked?
