I havent been able to solve this so I figured I would post here. Im using a M-Audio Pro 88 midi controller. Ive installed the latest drivers for it (it uses usb) and so forth. Problem is when I mash the sustain pedal, it works, but when you let off it pretty much doesnt stop. It seems like it doesnt do it all the time, but definitely most of the time. If anyone has a clue I would appreciate it. Thanks again.

for what it's worth

pedals i have used have switches on them that determine what happens when they are pressed. maybe your pedal switch needs to be toggled a few times and then set for the effect you want

i have have always have had to have the switch plugged in to the kboard before i turned the unit on to have the switch work as desired

I use a keystation 88 Pro here and don't have sustain pedal problems like that.

*The pedal must be connected *before* turning the controller on.

*There is a chance that the internal settings on the controller have changed for the sustain pedal values - returning it to default factory settings may be the fastest way to tell, or investigate the user manual for the pedal settings.

*There is an off chance that the chosen MIDI synth *might* be the culprit, as well. I've only been using hardware MIDI synth with mine, would have to set things up with a software synth to see what's going on, although it has always worked as it should with the VSC DXi under XP here on those occasions when I've used the Controller with ASIO drivers for realtime playing.

I'll be rechecking BB2011, latest build, when I get a minute, just to be sure nothing has been broken along those lines.

I will dig into this a bit more, but this problem only occurs for me in BIAB. Ive used the exact same settings and keyboard with other programs such as Hypersonic and do not have these issues.

One more thing, Im using ASIO, but I tried it using MME with no change.

Hello John,

I suggest that you open the MIDI Monitor in Band-in-a-Box, and first filter it to only show MIDI input. See what happens when you press and release the sustain pedal. It might give you some clues...

Hi Andrew,

I just did what I think you asked me to try. From my very limited knowledge of what Im looking at, it seems like the midi controller is doing what its supposed to. I include a link to the small text file that I created from a couple of chord changes. The very last line is from me letting off of sustain pedal, but unfortunately the sound continued to sustain until it faded out naturally. Anyway, thanks for the direction...still looking.

Contoller Text File

Thanks. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong there. What are you using for MIDI output? Are you using a DXi synth?

Hmmm, I can duplicate this - it seems to be an issue specific to the Coyote synth. Will report it.

By the way, is there some other free synth I could maybe download to use in its place? Figure its worth asking at least.

I don't see where he said that (specifically)

Thanks John_H!

Try the free 30 day trial of Coyote Forte, should be on the same media.
Might as well test that one too.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Just an update. I was able to get hypersonic 2 to work as my softsynth. No more sustain issues. Thanks for at least pointing me in the right direction. Very much appreciated.
